Well....dark floors with white cabs makes my heart go pitter-patter. That's the pics I was drawn to every time during the design process. While I didn't go with ebony floors, I did choose a dark brown. The contrast is lovely, and it has that old house look to me.

I don't think you made a mistake. I think it might look great. What color are your floors? What is your design style? Midmod? Industrial? Country? Contemp? Here are some pretty galley kitchens on Houzz. Which do you prefer dark or light counters? I like the light countertops. There are so many grays and with different undertones that it is possible there is one that would look good with your counters etc. I think a warm gray may work - warm grays often read green / gray and actually they are the only grays I like - probably because i tend towards warmer colors. A cool gray not only might not work, it would leave your present warm kitchen feeling a little cold. This one is more green, but if I was painting cabinets that were not so great - buying time before i could do a total remodel, I would try a color - be a little more daring then if i was spending $$$ on new cabinets. Computer monitors don't show true colors, so none of us are seeing exactly what you are seeing, though some pros may be familiar with your counters and know what works with them. Painting large pieces of foam board, which someone recommended I think, is a good way for you to evaluate a color in your actual kitchen. Do addess the lighting first - I don't see any windows at the working end of the kitchen making it more dependent even during the day on the right light bulbs. you are going to have to deal w the counter as far as coordinating things. I guess whoever did the blue paint wasnt ready to put up a splash so they used color contrast which in a way has worked. You may need to bring in tile samples as I dont think coordinating everything cabs/counters and tile will be especially easy. White tile in a subway is always a default but with the counters it will just be okay. if you want to match up w counters it looks like creams and/or grays so you just have to find the right one. maybe a light cream but then you are playing into the yellows so much...but you may find something. leave the teal paint until you have time to do this search. decorative small plates or mini pictures botanical themes can be aligned along the teal temporarily for whatever reason you think it's OFF. take it light- heartedly. note narrow ledge for use/ pegs for mugs etc....more use. something like these if it were mine and I was uncertain and the right tile doesn't emerge. way over on right above the narrow counter put some pegs for mugs....above sink a ledge ....etc.
