Comments (12)Thank you so much for visiting and all of your compliments. I understand that it is impossible to surf around all of the photos, - there are just too much. But I feel honored that you took a closer look at some of them... The camera I use, is a Nikon D200 for the newer ones, - before I used a Nikon Coolpix 5400. The D200 is really great, - a little difficult to handle in the beginning, but after a while quite easy. I wouldn't want another camera any more (except the new Nikon D300!!). Comments (18)John,When I said it cost $240,I should of also added that it probably took 5 years off my life. The plans,if You can call them that, were a nightmare.I spent a day setting the foundation, just to find that their plans are off by about 5/8"...but at least if I add a second GH,I'll know what I'm in for. I looked into building also, but the polycarbonate costs just made it not practical...the shipping was also about $200 because the panels are oversize.I know the big box stores used to carry the polycarbonate as hurricane panels, but they don't carry it anymore(at least not in my area). What did You use for framing,as I was considering using the extruded aluminium(I'm English & still can't spell/say it the American way after 16 years...I apologise)framing, that is used for building screened-in patios. This was when I wanted to construct a lean-to style on the South side of the house & make it match the screened in patio I built.Could You post a few pics of Your GH here,as it might give me a few ideas.Do You think running Christmas lights or just a regular 60wt bulb will give Me minimum heat on Our coldest nights? Thanks for Your info...See MoreWinter--I think it's finally here
Comments (35)We are spending the afternoon having the Great Debate - to clear or not to clear the driveway. There is about 3" of snow out there, and sleet coming down. If we clear, then the sleet will hit bare madacam, and freeze into a skating rink. If we don't clear, then we'll have crunchy but driveable snow, but a real mess if we get more snow on top. The current decision is to do nothing, and see if it stops precipitating later in the afternoon. It's long past what the snowblower can deal with, so anything will have to be done by shovel. For a big storm, this one is a little pussycat. We aren't having power outage weather, unless somebody slides into a pole. The roads were jammed yesterday, but everybody seems to be staying home today. I'm trying to get a baby afghan finished before Christmas...See MoreStill looking mighty wintery around here!
Comments (19)The snow didnt stay around long so none of the palms got damaged by the weight (once the storm stopped last night the snow immediately started to melt off of the trees). We reached 58F today with a LOT of sun so all that's left of the snow are a few small patches here and there which should be gone by tomorrow. Gotta love march snow storms! Hopefully this is the last of them! -Alex...See MoreBumblebeez SC Zone 7
