Opinions on entryway lighting options for new build
Comments (3)It's already in Design Dilemma, so I think we can manage! ;) I am, however, not clear what your question is. You could wait for your preferred light to come in, and have an electrician come and install it then, using a floor lamp in the meantime. You could get a light you don't like quite as much. There are probably others out there, but you could make yourself crazy looking... https://www.lightingdirect.com/dainolite-arc-226c-archello-6-light-22-wide-single-tier-cage-chandelier/p2984893 https://www.houzz.com/products/globe®-65435-sansa-5-light-chandelier-with-hanging-cord-and-chain-dark-bronze-prvw-vr~84848077 https://www.amazon.com/Park-Harbor-PHPL5118-Chandelier-Rubbed/dp/B01CF49NFG/ref=sr_1_77?ie=UTF8&qid=1510328018&sr=8-77&keywords=cage+chandelier http://www.lampsplus.com/products/artistry-32-inchw-matte-black-and-satin-brass-6-light-pendant__35t21.html http://www.lampsplus.com/products/clara-27-inch-wide-black-and-antique-silver-5-light-chandelier__24j40.html https://www.lightingdirect.com/elegant-lighting-1492d22-marquis-3-light-22-wide-cage-style-chandelier-from-the-urban-classic-collection/p2911985# https://www.lightingdirect.com/nuvo-lighting-60-6261-4-light-24-wide-chandelier-with-metal-cage/p3226168 How long is the backorder on the one you originally wanted?...See MoreOpinions Wanted! Comments (25)You know how the police read people their Miranda Rights ... we have just come up with our own Bischak Rights! Well done Mark! ;-) This needs to be posted as the first reply to any post that includes floor plans or elevations. Bischak Warning/Rights: "WARNING: Posting your entire floor plan opens you up to facts you may not want to know, but should. Be prepared for suggestions that will make for a better design. Keep a thick skin, open mind, sense of humor, and a glass of wine within arms reach. You may not enjoy it, but everyone else will and you will be better off in the long run if you heed well the advice." Ok, back to looking at today's floor plan!...See MoreMudroom/Laundry Side Entry questions - your opinions
Comments (20)I absolutely do not like the mudroom and the laundry room in the same room. Seems like completely different functions: a mudroom - a place to enter from the outdoors when completely and thoroughly dirty, wet, and/or muddy while bundled in boots/coats/hats/gloves (all of which need to be shed and hung up) while also carrying backpacks, the mail, a purse, groceries, etc; and a laundry room - a place in which to wash/sort/hang up/fold/iron clean clothes. I understand why these two rooms might be CLOSE to each other, but not TOGETHER in the same room....See MoreOpinions on entry rug...
Comments (37)First consider the size and placement, then color and pattern. I prefer the first size/placement or the fifth. The first one could use a little more length toward the stairs. All the others extend beyond the natural stopping point; entry walls, hallway walls and stairs. Second, color. In my eye, the bright reds clash with the orange of the stairs and fireplace. As Patricia stated, look at the other colors and style in your home. From the photos, it looks pretty traditional, so all the rugs styles would work. Although I prefer the overall patterns vs. the defined medallion of the first rug. I like the colors of the second rug best (more blue) of the four, then the fourth because it has a darker red. But, I think you could find a better both size wise and color. If you do the fourth size, place it a few inches toward the staircase. Also, rugs with a border will also emphasize the off centeredness. Try a rug without a border if going for the fourth placement. If your staircase and fireplace mantel were not so orange, I would say all of the rugs would work color wise. Lovely home!...See Moreilikefriday
