Hmm, we have honed ("silk") Neolith Calacatta, and the installer managed to muck up the surface when trying to remove glue or something that they got all over it. There were these faint little evenly-spaced shiny marks all over (think ties in a model railroad track) that I couldn't get off, so they came back to address that. I wasn't home, but I'm told they used acetone and an orange scrubby, and, while it looks fine in most places, there are a few spots where they seem to have rubbed the surface hard enough to change the sheen. It's completely invisible most of the time, but when the light from the window hits right, the spots look darker than the rest of the surface. They've offered to replace the slab, but I'm not sure yet if it bugs me enough to risk damage to backsplash, cabinets, and adjoining slabs to pull it out. Apart from that, I love the material--it looks great and EVERYTHING (apart from that glue) comes off: coffee that's been sitting under a mug, wine, olive oil, rust from a cast iron pan, etc.

@roarah, thank you for your response. I agree with you, however I have found an experienced fabricator in my area and the price he’s quoting is within my budget. I’m hoping to get more responses from people who have had porcelain countertops for a year or more and their experience with it. Experts please respond. Thank you.

Hi there- hkmckinney93 I have been shopping porcelain countertops for awhile and am seriously considering MSI Stile in Arabescato. I have a very experienced fabricator/installer lined up, but haven't reserved the slabs yet or put money down simply because several other components of our kitchen remodel are held up (flooring, appliances) several months. While weve been waiting Ive heard prices have gone up $6 per sq ft. Did you end up making a selection from MSI or another mfg? If so what did you use and how do you like it? The other threads on Houzz about porcelain are scary because there's a lot of complaints -but I have to wonder if the people who post are the ones who are upset, not the people who are satisfied (they don't bother). Hard to know if this is a poor choice (porcelain). Thoughts?

Insist that the fabricator you use comprehends and follows Roberto Colonatti's fabrication and installation manual. If Colonatti and your manufacturer disagree, go with Colonatti please. He's the best in the world. I've seen him lift an 8' top off a bench by the end. In the countertop universe, that's supernaturalism.
