As a bonus, numerous before and after digital renderings from Brick and Batten that will have no relation to this house, but will show how any style architecture can look like 2020’s MCM and Modern Farmhouse had a baby.

It might be possible to limewash the sign, too. Romabio can fix anything.

In all seriousness, why wouldn't the real estate listing agent insist that this be cleaned up before listing? If I were listing it and there was a reason the owner couldn't get it cleaned up, I'd spend $500 of my own money to have the vines removed and the leaves cleaned up at least. It would be worth $500 for the chance it actually might help it sell.

I’ve been following the renovation of this house by Godson Construction on Instagram. That is a mat of vines that they are removing from the house. I think they are using ropes and a crane in this picture.

If you scroll around the street view it's not a bad neighborhood. Airport noise notwithstanding. It's not posh but the houses around it are well-kempt and the neighborhood has nice wide streets. And you can walk to a rink, park, beach and yacht club.

Does anyone choose to live next to an airport if they have any other options? I could see buying a cheap fixer upper, if that’s all I could afford, but a teardown to build a custom home? Regardless of how nice or walkable the neighborhood, the airport would make it unlivable to me

I agree, Oly. I have not looked at lots but I am sure that lot is less than a similar lot in other areas of Boston. It's an awful location I'm sure.

Love this one, needs nothing. I could see an argument for Newport because it is 1)walkable and 2)essentially halfway between NYC and our beach house.

Mtn, the Newport, RI home is so charming! Sure, I'd do some updates (not loving the kitchen cabinets or closet doors) but I love the small cozy spaces, the beautiful wood doors and just the overall layout and vibe ... also love the walkability and how close it is to the water.

But can you live without a garage?

I think it is charming, too. I hadn't really thought about Newport much. Of course it will be a zoo in summer but that is ok.

We would build a garage at our primary home. If we bought something like this we might, as the listing suggests, carve out a parking space from the outdoor area and move the fence.

It's interesting that house was listed last June iirc for $2.7 and it is down to $1.7. Wonder what it's worth.
