Exactly! btw. I sound like a total rube I know, but no one ever told me I have to squeegee my glass to keep it from etching. Get the girls a squeegee and have them go to town after every shower. It will keep the grout cleaner as well as save you from having to see permanent spots on the glass door.

Hi all. tl;dr: What wall color and what floor tile to use in a bathroom with green and cream tiles? My bathroom remodel is finally taking shape—literally, in that I now have concept plans and know that the room will be 5' x 11' with a 3' x 5' shower at one end. The sink will be a streamline-moderne-ish console, and the toilet the Toto Promenade. I chose tiles a couple of years ago when I thought I was going to be remodeling my bathroom in situ because of an apparently-imminent plumbing failure and I still love those tiles, pictured here: Pratt and Larson wall tiles in cream and a grassy green. Since I still love them and they're still available, they're a definite yes. WALL COLOR: I am mindful of my designer friend's advice to use a color on your bathroom walls that's flattering to you, because it's going to color (literally) what you see in your mirror. I love this green, but too much of it is going to put me visually under water and make me look sickly. It's a color I love to look at but could never wear, and ditto any green-tinted yellows or similar. The room dimensions, with long walls behind and opposite the over-sink mirror, allow a lot of real estate to use a fabulous color, or colors, on the walls. I'm inclined not to tile all the way around the room, since the P&L tiles are really expensive, and just let the shower be the tile showpiece. I was recently gathering William Morris wallpaper samples for my study and was struck by how fabulous this colorway of Golden Lily is with the P&L tiles. Though I know wallpaper can be made to work in a bathroom, I think the ambient humidity is going to be too much for it in this case, so I was thinking of putting this in the hallway outside the bathroom where it and the bathroom palette can speak to one another. But I put it out there as possible inspiration for wall color(s) in the bathroom. I have a feeling there's a creative solution I haven't hit on yet for the walls. Any ideas? FLOOR TILES: The bathroom will be nod to the late 1920s without being a period reproduction, and with that in mind I've been thinking of a dark floor that wraps up to include the baseboard, as in the ca. 1929 catalog images included above, rather than the typical small-scale black-and-white hex, herringbone, etc. Not long after identifying the main cream and green tiles, I put them next to a deep slate blue, as pictured top left, and loved the combination. The deep blue tile pictured here is rated for floor use and has a great texture in both feel and look. Pratt and Larson has a gloss wall tile that matches it which could be used as a liner or other accent on the vertical surfaces. But I know there are other floor color options and I'd love to have your suggestions. Thanks!

I like that pattern. I see three colours in it? Don't know how much differently the pattern would read with only two colours. Sometimes, a tweak results in a big change. You might want to search for floors with brick patterns and see what type of colour combos look best to you. Did you see the pattern page on the Fireclay site? Btw, Fireclay does have patterned tiles (not inexpensive). Sizes are 6x6, 8x8 and 6 x 12. As an example, here is their page for b&w and green motifs. And here's Restoration Tile's historic pattern info page. I believe both companies offer design assistance and did see a CAD tool and free design assistance on the Fireclay site. As mentioned by @houssaon, drawing it all out to scale on paper helps a ton too. You mentioned needing tiles in three weeks. I know labour is scarce these days but rushing decisions on permanent fixtures usually means something gets compromised so it can help to be flexible with the initial design idea. I don't know if being historically accurate with your new floor is important to you but if you're looking for something that seems outside current retail offering and must work with your current tub tiles, might be worth your while to reach out to a pro for design ideas. PEI is not DCOF. They measure different things. One measures resistance to abrasion, i. e. foot traffic. The other measures the slip resistance of the tile when it is wet. A condition that tends to occur a shower. This is why it is important to use a tile with an actually tested rating of .42 or greater.
