Bathroom Medicine Cabinet Ideas

We are renovating our bathroom which has a slim recessed medicine cabinet. Attached are pics of the vanity, mirror, and lighting. I can not find a medicine cabinet with black frame that would match the mirror. Do you think it is okay to just keep it as is or will it look out of place? And if I keep as is, are the rounded corners on the mirror okay or should I get a mirror with squared corners?

Marry the two and only have a medicine cabinet with a mirror over the vanity. The medicine cabinet to the right begins to look busy.

I actually think it might look better without them both being in black frames. I have recently been recess medicine cabinet shopping. Don't know your size but Sofia has one with a black frame in a ton of sizes. You have to scroll allll the way down the page to see their taller ones, the size list is long. They are made in NY and every high end fixtures store in Manhattan carries them with the narrow black frame. They are not cheap but not as expensive as Robern. Prices are listed in the link.

I think medicine cabs are great. I think the shallow presentation is actually a good thing as you do not have to dig to find anything. Why not have more storage than less? No one ever complains that they have not enough stuff to fit their storage, lol.. .. BTW - how funny that some of the male posters think they are for "medicine". I think they are primarily for makeup, hairspray and first aid supplies. Medicine should not be stored in a damp hot environment, so we keep ours in an upper cab in the kitchen away from the hot cooking area (and from little hands).

Perhaps place the medicine chest over the toilet, or on another wall and place a mirror over your sink? I had this same issue and this was my solution. I also found that a larger mirror than the one in the antique medicine chest was more functional. Hope this helps!

They should have left the drywall and cut it to fit after. Since they didn’t, remove the cabinets and shim the opening as needed and patch with drywall mud. I like making multiple thin coats versus one thick coat and a ton of sanding.

I installed the Tech Lighting Span above a mirror in my powder room. It's available in four finishes and down or up/down (aka Direct or Direct/Indirect) light distribution. Rather expensive, though, at $498. Sold on Amazon, ylighting, elsewhere.

Agree just do one large medicine cabinet over the sink. Robern has lots of options.

You could change to a non mirrored door on the medicine cabinet and natch to the wall colour.

Buy a single mirror black frame medicine cabinet for over the vanity.
