In our remodel, we will have external ice and water and a hot water dispenser in the prep sink. Right now we use the Brita and a hot water pot (plugged in 24/7) which keeps water boiling hot but sits on the counter and takes up lots of space. My kids and DH love cold water and miss the dispenser (which is currently broken on my kitchenaid) That was one of their musts for the new kitchen. I LOVE hot water and can't live without it for tea and hot water, hot chocolate. I would rather pull a lever rather than microwave or boil water. SO, for our remodel, my rationale was since i'm getting cold filtered water in the fridge- I would save and get the hot water dispenser in the sink. If the water dispenser in the fridge is that slow..i'll put the Brita in my new and bigger fridge. For me it wasn't a hard decision- it seems overkill to have 2 filtered cold water dispensers. Now I have to look into the energy consumption you are talking about because I am trying to be energy conscience and efficient with this new remodel.

Can one of you knowledgeable kitchen experts help me compile a list of touch faucet brands? I gather Moen's aren't out yet? I like the Delta ones okay, but the finish colors are limited and I really need to coordinate my kitchen faucet to some sort of hot water dispenser and can't find one that looks right. Would also love also a magnetic spray head but I'm asking too much, I think. If I can't find a touch-faucet and HWD to match, I'll go for a more traditional look instead of modern, and forget the touch function. The HWD is a must-have. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

We are getting the Vertex bottleless water dispenser thanks to learning about it on GW. It is a filter and has both hot and cold water at the touch of a button. You hook it up to a water supply to not need bottles, so it solves the dispensing, filtering and hot water needs all in one (we did not "need" the hot water feature, but will prob find it to be handy). The only downside is it will take some counter space, but we plan on making it fit our plan because we could not find a fridge freezer set with water in the door in our price range. We have an interior icemaker and wanted to encourage filtered water drinking in our house over store bought pre-made drinks. I am guessing we will make more (unsweetened) iced teas with the simplified hot water feature.... Here is a link that might be useful: Vertex

hmmm...interesting response you got from jams001. lol Here are your faucets, jane: I wonder if you could find somewhere near you that carries the faucets, so that you could see them in person? I haven't begun shopping for faucets yet, so maybe someone who has can direct you better than I. Sandy
