Help needed: decorating staircase wall

Hello,
If you can picture this -
My stairwell is small, and enclosed at the top. The ceiling above the stairs is too low to put pictures going up on the wall along the staircase, but I do have room at the bottom of the staircase, and at the top by the first landing. Is it ok to put one photo at the bottom, and one at the top, with nothing on the wall in between? or should I pick either top or bottom? Would love to see examples of this if you know of any. The painting on the bottom would be a nice 24x36 poster and at the top on the same wall would be a 24x24 painting. Thank you

I think it would be best if you could attach a photo of the space.

Can’t see why wall up the stairs will look odd empty with one/or two, but without seeing the wall it’s hard to know. Just test using peelable two sided tape. My priority would be ensuring their sizes feel right and are related in some way vs the empty staircase wall.

If I had a view like that, I would definitely turn the couch to face it. But it might mess up the surround sound, lol! It wouldn't be ideal for tv watching, but I always think when there is something wonderful to look at, but all the furniture is facing the tv, that it looks like we are worshiping at the altar of tv - because everything is so focused on it. You might talk him into a swing arm tv holder so the tv could angle toward the couch when being watched and pushed back fully against the wall at other times. I really like the floral chair added in, too. With the couch facing the windows, you could then use the console behind it if you wanted to. It's a really pretty space and looks very inviting this morning!!

I'd sentence that worker and the gazillion just like him, who stick a thermostat, light switch, air vent, etc. in the middle of a wall with no thought to how it's going to look, to a lifetime of grief, just like the people who are trying to decorate around their handiwork.

I would skip the shades and just do neutral drapes on the sliding doors, something like this. They need to barely touch the floors, so measure from the middle of the wall between the top windows and sliding doors and the floors. Adding a lamp suggestion with the rug you like

I agree this is not the best wall for an ascending gallery.

You don't show the handrail wall but you could possibly have a pair of pictures facing each other at the bottom landing...one on the handrail wall and one on the light switch wall.

Then at the top, something that creates a cozy space for the window seat...a pair of opposing pictures facing each other on each wall to the sides of the bench, similar to the downstairs arrangement.

It would be pleasant if the four pictures -2 up and 2 down- had the same theme or style, even a set of 4 matched frames/art. Kinda unite the upstairs and downstairs.

I'd do a gallery wall but perhaps also hire an electrician to put in some better lighting for you.

Top or bottom. This is a narrow staircase and I think not the best for a gallery wall.

I would put art on the wall shown, on the side with the light switch. Skip the wall with the bench, then continue the artwork up the staircase if you have space.
