The best B daylilies 2023
Comments (29)Sherry always good to see Buzz Saw opens well for you. Bela Lugosi had washed out color in the heat this year and has gotten shaded out too much. A move is in its future. Well I adore every single one shown. Big Bird on its first year. I love it for the size of the bloom and the clear yellow. Rotten deer ate the buds after this pic. Black Arrowhead wowed me with how quickly it established and I am fond of the shape and coloration. It bloomed over a very long period especially considering its young age. Blue Sheen has a long bloom period. This year was not as good as last but it was extremely hot and dry. I am on a well and do not water. Yes it has its faults, blooms are too low in the foliage and they are smallish blooms but Buffy's Doll is prolific and I really like the coloration....See MoreThe Best C daylilies 2023
Comments (24)Lots of eye catching Cs here! Love them all. I have had to think of parameters of ”best” rather than ”favorite” and that makes a difference in selections! Creature of the Night-great height, buds, and multiplies well Clown Parade-ditto on everything already said about this plant Crystal Rubies-just an eyecatching bloom with lots of buds Cheddar Cheese-was there ever a cultivar more aptly named? A standout in the garden Come Sail Away made the list due to resilience from pot to garden with good multiplication of fans. As Celeste said, it does draw your eye to it Cameroon Night was also fabulous. Cowboys Don’t Cry is one that never disappoints....See MoreYour Best E daylilies 2023
Comments (20)I can't comment on the plant habit of Ethereal SC (first year). Its color is a clear lavender, part of Hanson's obsessive quest for purity in that color. Chateau Belair has a bit more orchid tones; it is described as "lilac." I hope that the plant habit of Ethereal is taller than that of Chateau (though at the estate, Chateau is taller than at my residence). El Shaddai is one I would recommend with some notations. Its blooms are less cookie cutter than those of many cultivars, and it is a bit on the short side. Escape Into Fantasy I would recommend. It is heavy blooming, out of Point of Divergence. And I didn't realize that I had missed Existential Avatar. Vigorous and well budded. A bit of a space hog....See MoreYour best 5 K daylilies 2023
Comments (16)My favorite is Katherine Marin. That clump shot is especially divine. I don't have many K's. And a couple are repeats of what's already been shared. However, this one is my favorite of all my daylilies. She has a place in my heart and garden forever. She has the elaborate ruffled edges of the southerns but is a hardy northern daylily. Very fertile and I have some gorgeous seedlings out of her. KITTY BANNERMAN ONE daylily but had to show 3 photos because I couldn't choose which one I liked best! The downside is she is very hard to obtain. I got mine years ago before the hybridizer (Weitz) stopped selling. Another nomination would be KATHRYN CALDWELL, already posted here. Mine grows quite tall with sturdy scapes, large flowers, good increase, bud count is quite good KINGDOM BOUND is fairly new for me but seems like it will be a good plant. It is very hard to pod but it will set pods with certain pollen. Mine isn't a gorgeous clump yet like Mantis's. KENNESAW CROSSFIRE, fairly new but is looking great so far. KANSAS KITTEN, everybody who grows this knows how good this one is. I usually forget I have it in favor of larger, newer daylilies. But in spite of being planted in the worst part of the garden in the shade, and being subjected to neglect and drought conditions, it just keeps on being great....See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
