I have anew gray currently in my bedroom on the walls and alabaster on the trim. I think it would be beautiful to have the trim and perhaps the door also sw anew gray and the walls alabaster. Another look depending on the height of your ceilings, you could paint the ceiling anew gray with alabaster walls.

Comedy of errors (only after we had a few drinks was it comedic) 1. We greatly underestimated the effort to paint textured walls, especially on the ceiling. That and we're 15 years older than many of the projects we've done the past. 2. Turns out we got the wrong color paint. I'm not sure why I had a different color paint stuck in my head and even though I checked color swatches I still got it wrong. And now that we're going to pay someone to do it I definitely want to make sure the color is right. Only after I came back to this post did I realize I gave the store the wrong color. We're going to suck it up and pay someone to do it which is good because that also includes trim and doors. Although now I have to take a week off of work. Good news: we can donate the paint to Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Bright white trim with Dover White. Had many rooms in my home painted this color to prepare for sale. Looked great, sold fast, great price. My painter loved it and started using it for his other customers. This house was in Florida... don't know where you're from but would consider the quality of the light in your area. This color worked well with tiled floors (warm neutral), hickory hardwoods, and grey carpet in an office. I even used this color outside to freshen up the stucco in the entryway and the lanai. Hope this helps!

Echo others in that we need to see other existing finishes, and understand more about the light situation. It can also be that in the current hot market you need just to touch up the existing paint/paint when needed, instead of completely redo it. I don't know whether I believe there is magical color X that will work anywhere just the same. Some colors tend to work better in houses such and such in geographical locations such and such, and thus become a staple. But we don't know enough about the location or the house style.
