White if you are painting.

It helps if there is some additional information provided. Existing colors, such as flooring, trims, backsplash, fireplace material, the amount of light, etc. that can help determine a good color for the entire house.

I'm not a fan of that---I was too afraid to allow this house to show any personality---white.

Are you sure you need to repaint? The real estate market is red hot in many areas, including ours. We just sold my parents' house. It was decluttered and staged. Very clean, but we didn't paint. Living room was a soft grayish green, hallways and kitchens wallpapered, fairly dated and a bit country-ish. Bedrooms either beige or pale blues. Nothing garish or weird. Sold no problem although I am guessing the new young owners will want to change it to their taste.

As as Realtor, personality is a bad thing. Paint it white and buyers that like color will mentally paint it another color as they walk thru. I have had buyers choose a house because "its so light and bright" and the first thing they do is to paint their favorite colors which makes it darker. In the same vein they like a house "because it does not need anything" and the first thing they do is remodel it.

I’d use Benjamin Moore’s Decorator White because it has no yellow undertones and looks great with everything.

I need to see the house honestly how can we even begin to answer this with no info. BTW I happen to love a pale gray interior but a lot depends on the style of the house and how you are at staging.

When I first saw this query, I assumed you meant the exterior. When we put our house on the marker, we hired a painter who was able to match the existing colors of both the exterior and interior enough to "clean up" the look, where there was peeling paint. I considered this part of "staging" and was suggested by my real estate agent. I assume the new owners may want to change the colors to their own taste.

Echo others in that we need to see other existing finishes, and understand more about the light situation.

It can also be that in the current hot market you need just to touch up the existing paint/paint when needed, instead of completely redo it.

I don't know whether I believe there is magical color X that will work anywhere just the same. Some colors tend to work better in houses such and such in geographical locations such and such, and thus become a staple. But we don't know enough about the location or the house style.

In my area, white or off white are the most popular colors for selling now. The exact tint of white or off white is not critical. If you choose a national paint brand, there are standard whites and off whites that you can buy off the shelf quickly. Bring home some samples or paint chips of the standard colors and pick one.

I am right outside of Austin and the market is hot. Everyone is getting 50k - 100k over the asking price.

So if your paint colours are reasonably neutral maybe you don't need to paint. Declutter and depersonalize.

To stage the house our agents put white slipcovers over the dark dated sofa and love seat. Threw oversize white sheets over the beds. All the white looked fabulous in the listing pictures. Each room had only one big piece of art and a few pillows and vases to match it.
