Need to choose paint colors for whole house and am overwhelmed!
Comments (20)I toured a 1913 house museum last weekend, and there were at least 3 pink rooms: the master bedroom (redone after the husband died; I wonder what it looked like before?), the daughter's room, and the drawing room (with dark wood and silk paneled walls). I've never been a big fan of pink, but every now and then a pink bedroom will just tug at my heart! Maybe someday if I'm a widow or divorcee. :p I could envision a mauve dining room, particularly in a historic home, but I'm not sure about diaphanous pink...a laundry room or powder room might be your best bets, but I don't think a guest room would be out of the question. On the other hand, if you don't have a clear vision of the spaces yet and are using furniture you already have, your best bet is probably to pick a few neutrals (check out Benjamin Moore's Affinity line) that go with your current things and are flexible enough that you can imagine them going with future acquisitions. Once you've lived there a while, you'll be less overwhelmed and have a better idea of what you want the rooms to look like. At that point you can repaint a room at a time if need be, and you'll be in a much better position to judge how light affects the colors....See MoreHelp Choosing a whole house color!
Comments (8)Beige is a flesh tone, with a pink hue. I think the Camel Back and the Whole Wheat are more of a golden color, and therefore versatile. Of course, the type of natural light available or the type of lighting you install can change the way they look, just as the accessories or flooring will. I like using the SW website to find complimentary colors that will blend with your choice for the walls of your house. It's nice to have walls in a tone that can work with other hues so if you want to bring in a different color of accessory or drape or upholstery it is versatile to that. I think these colors will make a variety of colors look nice, including Ruby or Garnet...there isn't a gemstone and few other stones, pearls, opals, rose quartz... that doesn't look pretty with a gold ring, for instance. :)...See MoreHelp choosing paint brand and sheen for whole home??
Comments (4)not all of the paints come in all of the finishes. So if you want eggshell you may need to use that paint line. I was pushed into Satin finish because of the paint line selection from SW. I'm happy with it, not shiny in the lighter colors but doesn't scuff as easily as a matte finish would....See MoreBest off-white neutral-ish grays for whole house by SW and Behr?
Comments (0)Having trouble choosing a whole house color as some are too icy, too dark, or too beige😅 does anyone have any suggestions from Sherwin Williams or Behr for whole house colors that are off-white with a hint of gray and will go with cool and warm tones? Thanks so much....See Moreokaycoral
