trim/moulding/casing of door and built in cabinet too close

We remodeled our farmhouse more than 20 years ago and the trim details and final painting are all that has been left. How do you deal with this: the closet and the bathroom door are close together with 11" from inside the door where the reveal would go to same next to hinges of the cabinet. The trim is 4.75" Is it OK to have about an inch between the two? Also in the same hall area are bedroom doors that are very close to the wall- 3.5" to the wall on one side. Pictured is the problems -our adult daughter gave us an ultimatum ;) about finally getting rid of the 1950s original indestructible pink and getting the trim and doors finished before we start drawing social security. What style of cabinet doors

should replace the dated 1950s?? Also pictured are the finished doors elsewhere in the house and a closeup of the knob style. The 1950s doors are all being replaced- we just haven't done it yet here in this back hall area. . . . This is a farmhouse- with "real" farmers .
