48" Range -VS- 36" Rangetop+Dual Wall Ovens (see pics)
Comments (4)I had the same dilemma with my remodel. First, what will you use the most? All burners or grill and/or griddle? A 48" gives u a bit more flexibility for cooking, just remember that with range ovens you will always need to bend. Wall ovens are great if you have the space. I can only speak for capital. I own the 48" range with 6 burners+grill, self clean/ rotisserie. I also have the capital single wall oven. I purchased 3months ago. Wall oven vs Range oven. Wall oven theres, No Bending, saves my back:)... I set it for 350F it beeps when temp reaches 350. The range oven is all gas and does not beep when 350 is reached. So you will need timer and oven thermometer, I like the rotisserie on the range better....See More36in cooktop w/ double oven or 48in cooktopsw/ oven underneath?
Comments (3)Love having my ovens at a better viewable and reachable height. I think I love even more having the drawer space right under our rangetop for pots and pans. And I don't miss the hot oven in front of my legs while I'm cooking. Do you cook alone or might someone bake while someone else cooks at the stove? Much nicer not to have the baker trying to get into the oven while someone is tending pots at the stove that can happen with a range or any ovens installed under a cooktop. ...So I vote having the cooktop and ovens separate. It depends a lot on whether you have room in your layout for the full-height appliance, and can do without the 30" of counter space....See More30 inch range vs. cooktop/wall oven vs. 36 inch range
Comments (1)I can answer the BS oven door question. My 36" BS RCS was installed two days ago (haven't used it yet, hopefully this weekend). During the burn off of the oven (high temp is 450 F for an hour) I checked how hot the oven door got, as that has been a big issue noted on these boards. On my range, the SS part of the oven door did not get hot, just a bit warm. The glass on the oven door got hotter but not that hot. What did get quite hot were the sides/edges of the oven door. I could touch the side but not for long. Definitely quite hot. Not instant burn/scald though. There are vents (or look like vents) right there so it makes sense that those areas heat up a lot. Your kids would have to press their hands up against the 2" side of the door for several seconds for it to affect them negatively. More likely a kid running around will touch the front of the door and that is not a problem, on my range at least....See MoreKitchen remodel: range vs wall ovens, walk-in vs wall pantry?
Comments (22)You’ll be surprised at how much larger the range ovens can be than wall ovens. This is due to a lot of details but mainly because its easier to fit the electronics, thermal buffering, etc into a range so the oven cavity is bigger.... Although I’m partial to wall ovens (being one of those freaks that likes to hide every possible appliance due to the common open-concept living)......I can’t deny how nice it would be to have the ovens that are available in a range. I always say: the kitchen you’ll LOVE MOST is a kitchen thats functional for how YOU live. You can have the most magazine ready kitchen & still hate it if it doesn’t work for your lifestyle so forget all the fads & “rules” (as long as its not a structural or code rule hah)....If ur family tends to reach for snacks, drinks, etc while ur cooking then I say make it a priority to place your work triangle outside that zone! Wall pantries can absolutely hold just as much *if not more* than many of the small corner pantries that often have awkward corner shelves which are wasted storage space. straight boxes with pull outs don’t suffer wasted space which makes it possible to hold more items ☺️. I can see why you’d want to double up the next wall pantry area...Have u considered placing the cooktop in the corner & the wall ovens in the cabinet area beside the new closed in opening (in place of the upper/lowers)?...See Morechispa
