molding/baseboard around island

Sarah Temple
last year

I’m having a design dilemma I’m hoping you can help with. My cabinet maker built the shaker panels on the sides of the island all the way to the ground instead of cutting it in to make the baseboard flush with it. There are areas around the kitchen island posts and other side of kitchen that are shimmed so I will need something to wrap around the main kitchen, island and island posts to make it all look flush to the floor. He put the small strips on one area of the kitchen side (pic shown) but I’m wondering if it would look better to put a 4” piece of molding that is much thinner than a regular baseboard all around. I want it to look finished and intentional, not like a fix if that makes sense. My design for all my cabs are shaker style- frameless with full overlay.
