Time to bury the money!! New Year's Eve tradition
Comments (29)Raven, just now seeing this, and I have never heard of this before...but I might do it next year....if I don't forget. I wanted to tell you what one of my friends does every year. He picks up any found money...like coins he finds on the parking lot, or whatever. He goes to the Texas City dike to fish a lot and often finds money there too. Just wherever he finds it. He puts it in a coffee can. At the end of the year, he puts it in a closet....writes the year on the cap of the can. He never spends it. I asked him if he counted it, and he said no. I have known him for 40 years and he has always done this. No telling how much money he has squirreled away like that. He is one of my best friends. I call him a "junk" friend because that is our common interest...we go to the flea markets together. He is very quirky...you should see his house! He has a duplex....lives in both sides of it. He might be called a "hoarder" but he is very neat and clean and everything is extremely well organized. He has dozens of collections. Like, in his bedroom is a tall cabinet with glass doors and many shelves. In it is many, many, many figurines of women/girls in long dresses. I said, "David, what is this?" He said, "Ladies in long dresses."...See MoreWho is burying the money this NYE?
Comments (62)Buried mine in a potted plant last night. Woke up this morning to an email asking me to drop off a resume at a local law office this week. (I am looking for work after 25+ years at the same job. Terrifying! Fear and uncertainty these past six weeks have been causing some stress-related health problems. I was encouraged by the invitation.) Dug it up a few hours later and put it in the "must be donated" baggie I keep in a drawer beside my bed....See MoreI buried the money on New Year's Eve and. . .
Comments (17)The lottery scratch winnings are still going strong. I got $28 yesterday off a $3 ticket. But not only that, I've had hubby's watch for sale for a while. The watch I liked best I got sized for me, but I'm selling another. As usual, I've had low-balls, but today I got an email inquiring about it. An older gentleman was interested and he came here. I met him downstairs, and we sat in his truck and had the nicest visit. It turns out he has the exact same watch but his is very worn, the bracelet is loosening and the face is all scratched. Ours is in mint condition. Because it was going to such a good home, and we commiserated with our sorrows (my recent loss and his of a son of a heart-attack at 47), I knocked some money off the price. He gave me the cash and then also the extra, and ask that I donate it; (the extra portion). I have it with the buried money and will certainly do that....See MoreHow Many Are Burying Money on New Year's Eve?
Comments (40)I haven't buried mine yet. I need to put a piece of flag stone over the top of it. The soil is so sandy here, the dogs can easily dig it up. Plus if I touch something, that is something they seem to automatically want. I really had to laugh the other day. I walked out in the hay field which is on the far side of this place. I walked around it to look at some tree that was on the edge of the forest. We back up to the Davy Crockett National forest. The dogs went with me. One dog, Scout, went off on her own. When I got back to the barn, I saw Scout zig zagging all over....following the path I had walked. Nose to the ground. She was tracking me. If she had looked up, she could have seen me. Makes you appreciate what a great nose dogs have. A little unnerving that a dog could smell me like that. :)...See Morejoyfulguy
