Flooring Design Dilemma Kitchens

Pls help with picking a floor

last year

Im about to lay a new laminate floor in my apartment but im struggling to decide what color and shade i should go for. My kitchen and my furnitures are very similar to the attached pics and im thinking of buying the laminate floor called "Tundra" from ikea, which is oak-patterned "white/grey". Would that floor mix bad with my kitchen and furnitute?

We went through the roof selection a couple of years ago. We went with the slate color. The darker color is much darker than it appears in the photos, and I did not like the expanse of black. In the Northeast you don't have to worry too much about if it will be too hot, but that was another factor for us here in the Carolinas. This photo they actually look lighter than IRL. I would do the sidelights the same color as the door. You could also go with a bolder color like barn red or sage or darker green.

Carpet is probably the cheapest option. There will be a lot of labor to prepare the steps for another type of flooring and install it. The overhangs will have to be cut off. Make sure that your flooring choice has matching nosings and consider what you want on the risers. The old carpet lasted 16 years. Get a nice looking low nap carpet and be done with it.

I like the color you have! It is classic. Maybe not "on trend", but it won't be the gray floor of 2017 for the next 40 years either. Anything "Medium Brown" will be classic. Achieving that on red oak is not always easy due to the red part of red oak. Seriously, though, there is no easy answer to this without samples on your floor in your lighting. You can't make your decision based on pictures on the internet because of the variations in lighting and whatever your monitor does to colors, too. If you can't slow the process down to get samples, I would make my own samples by getting some unfinished red oak and staining it yourself. Be sure to add the top coat to get a realistic idea of what it will look like. Then you can move the samples around. However, you need to know what brand of products your flooring professional is going to use. If you have that information already, please share it and the professionals here will be able to give you some input on the quality of the product.

@misecretary here u go. The middle pic is my kitchen cabinets, taken from google, and the rest are pics of the floor im thinking of.

The pic that was posted by @dan888 is a different model, while the one im thinking of is described as "grey/white". Im wondering if "grey/white" might be a bad choice (?) Since ive read that one should prereably stick to either warm or cold undertoness. Im guessing the floor is considered to be cold (?) while the kitchen and my other furniture is considerrd to be warm, but maybe im wrong. Im really bad at stuff like this haha..

Right now gray floors are a telltale sign of a flipper. You just need to warm the color up a bit similar to what Dan1888 posted. Designers Consortium recommended a medium tone because that's something you can stick with while the trends flip flop back and forth between light and dark. I am old enough to have seen this happen more than once. :-) You can stay with a lighter color if you really like it and aren't worried about it being a past trend in 5-10 years.
