Pls Help pick a roof/shingle/door color Pictures

We are planning to replace our roof, shutters and front door. We have decided to go with architectural shingles and have narrowed the colors down to slate or charcoal. I have taken a picture of our house and tried each below (the first is slate, second is charcoal). Which color do you like better? Also, we live in the north east, do you think the darker one will make the house significantly hotter in the summer?

Also, we are pretty sure we will be going with black raised panel shutters. We aren't sure about the front door, maybe mahogany? Suggestions? Do you think the sidelights should match the door or trim?

I like the slate roof with the black shutters. I also like the door/side lights being treated as one.

We went through the roof selection a couple of years ago. We went with the slate color. The darker color is much darker than it appears in the photos, and I did not like the expanse of black. In the Northeast you don't have to worry too much about if it will be too hot, but that was another factor for us here in the Carolinas.

This photo they actually look lighter than IRL.

I would do the sidelights the same color as the door. You could also go with a bolder color like barn red or sage or darker green.

fun colors, The heather blend is the last one on the right next to the cream/yellow (more cream) siding. Holding it up to the house and the siding the brown did not seem to be right. Out of frustration, I picked up a timberline dark brown at home depot and that brown did not seem to work either. Read on the net, don't have the link, that roof color will appear 1 shade lighter and/or appear 1 shade lighter shortly after installation. So . . . if the moire black would fade a little, would be a plus to me. It's either the A/C bills or the algae. Figured I might have to change to green or other shade of red for door with roof change. Pretty sure neighbors will not be anticipating that so more explaining may be in order. There is some work involved, not all fairyland magic. Anyway, the main reason for the red door was when you have the exposed door with no overhang the black door gets hot as HE_L and bakes like it's in an oven. It was originally black which looked good for color, but the color was melting. The roof extension will probably allow for more color selection. The red is popular here. Everyone comments on how they love the red door and many in the neighborhood immediately painted their door red too. Must admit it stands out a little too much with no landscaping. After the roof, the next outdoor project will be bringing in additional soil and replacing the walkway. It has cracks, sadly, concrete does that. We love the color brown, but in sample form those browns did not look promising. Keep in mind, trim and gutters will stay white, so let me know if some roof color selections will look bad given that consideration.

Friends have the Charcoal Gray on a West facing wall. They have had to have it replaced as it faded within the first year. Has done so again, so they are painting that wall. I'd be tempted to with light on the color.

I would do charcoal and then down the road if you want to change the color of the stucco you could easily. Once some landscaping is done that dead gray stucco might look better than it does right now so keep the roof neutral.

I think the door looks better with the sidelights matching. If you go with the slate roof, have you thought of toning the shutters down a notch from black and going with Charleston green (deep, dark almost black)?

If you go with the charcoal roof, the black shutters with a black door/sidelights would look nice, IMO (and I think that's what would get my vote). In the NE, the black roof will help with your heating costs in the colder months, so it shouldn't be a problem for you.

like the darkest roof. You can never go wrong with a black/brown/charcoal blend on roof and Id go completely different on the door. Definitely do the shutters black but door in a bright color, leafy green or lime green, or purple or even a golden yellow. Those will stand out nicely against the brick and black and white.

We went with the charcoal roof. The slate just seemed washed out to us and we prefer the more distinct look of charcoal. Thanks for the thoughts!
