I don't think the PAX white is the same as the Abstrakt white, although it might work anyway. What about getting two doors to total 36", and use a bit of deco strip to fill in between them or around the edges? One problem with the Abstrakt material is that it's tricky to cut it cleanly. I used the deco strips as a crown molding and the mitered edges are a little rough. See tops of cabinets in picture below - the top right corner is a mitered piece of deco strip that wraps around to the side of the cabinet. this is a gorgeous kitchen! More on India ink as stain: I've used it on furniture a lot. Be SURE you get permanent India ink. It has some shellac in it to make it more waterproof. It has amazing coverage. I have done an entire armchair frame with only an ounce or two. It's also very messy if you drip it, so wear old clothes and get some disposable latex gloves. It may raise the grain on some woods. Sand the wood smooth before applying it, then do a very light sanding after it's completely dry, if it feels at all rough. Apply a second coat if the sanding removes any of the color. The color is a warm black. It's opaque but the grain of the wood will show through, unlike with paint. It's a pretty unique finish. I have never used Waterlox over my ink finishes, since they were furniture. I think you do need something though--the finish doesn't seem to be super permanent even though the ink is labeled permanent. (That's more for when it's used on paper, not furniture or counters that get a lot of wear and tear.) I used beeswax on the furniture which seemed to seal the ink pretty well. I don't think I would use it on wooden chair seats, though. Too much risk of rubbing off on clothing down the road.

KL, Your new kitchen is spectacular. Thank you so much for sharing in such detail. I am thinking I ought to do the same, as I am just at the planning stages of my project. I am wondering how your kitchen is holding up after 8 months. I am considering going with IKEA boxes and semi-handmade in my kitchen reno, but worry about the durability of the Ikea drawers, slides, and hinges. Are you still happy with them? Also I am curious about what cabinet material you chose. I am guessing that SemiHandmade in Flatsawn Walnut is a veneer, right? How is it looking 8 months on? I am trying to make my budget work and am tempted to save on cabinets because it's just such a big ticket item. Are you still happy with your choice? Also, how do you like the FP fridge?

FWIW I did a kitchen many years ago with the white ringhult and at that time IKEA carried a white high gloss laminate countertop that I used and I did do a waterfall with it. I also paid to upgrade the counter edges to aluminum but I’m not sure they still carry it but maybe others have a more budget friendly counter top that you could use to create the waterfall if you’re really sold on that design. If not, a traditional quartz top and side panels will look nice too.
