How can I avoid an awkward transition strip at my front entry way?

I'm a homeowner installing laminate in my home. There's a spot by the front entry way where the transition doesn't smoothly connect from wall to wall. What options are available for making this more seamless?

It goes from the front wall to the bottom part of the stairs. There's a very small section of tile but it's not enough space. The transition strip will push too far out into the living room and leave an overhanging edge on the right side. I'm not keen on cutting tile to glue down the metal part of the transition piece in order to move it closer to the banister and out of the living room.

I've seen metal transition strips for other types of flooring that would be smaller but haven't been able to find ones specific to laminate.
