@greenhearted Z5a IL Thank you! It is a tough decision!! I like the floor a lot, but it’s not infallible! I don’t particularly like the grooves, if Flooret had a non-groove option I would have chosen that! Contrary to what people say, stuff does get caught and accumulate in the grooves!! The dark color does show stuff. I don’t know what to say about that. I just didn’t like kingswood, but I would have preferred a slightly more medium brown over brenwick. Other shades were too gray or too light for me. Overall I am quite happy with it. I like the large planks a lot. Workers coming in have been impressed with it...even thinking it’s real sometimes and wanting to know the brand. Truthfully, I’ve had to take care of my dad the last few years in another state and I haven’t been there living in it with day to day use. Only been there once in while for a few days. Kinda crazy. That’s why I disappeared off this thread for a while. So it’s a little bit hard for me to give a thorough review, but I hope this helps...Good luck!!

The price/value of the condo will dictate the finishes used on the inside. If this is an entry level condo, then a laminate floor ($3/sf) will perform VERY well in your situation. No need to go to vinyl if you don't have to. If this is a luxury condo with a luxury price tag then hardwood is going to be worth the extra price tag (over concrete you will need/want to float the floor). All options have *issues with health concerns. To get as far away as possible from the worst effects, you need to pay the TOP PRICE in the category (hence the reason why I listed $3/sf laminate...a Swiss based laminate will be the safest floor you can find without installing dirt). A $2/sf vinyl = scary. A $4/sf engineered hardwood = scary. If you must go vinyl, then look to the $7-$9/sf product. If you must look at engineered hardwood then look at the $10-$15/sf. If you need to keep with a budget but want the best floor possible....$3-$4/sf laminate out of Europe will do the job (for the next 20 years).

You know, to me "fake" is not that big of a deal in some things where cleaning or lifespan can be an issue. Yes, like you, I would love authentic everything including hardwood floors. But I have cats. I always have and I always will. They bring absolute joy to my life. I have lost all three in the last couple of years, Amara my most recent loss left us last week, but more will come. I also want beautiful things around me. My description of my home is "comfortable elegance." Neither word has any more emphasis than the other; both are essential to creating a home I love and love to share. But cleaning and damage is a big deal too. I have no intention of spending a lot of time that would require high maintenance. I look at my faux Christmas tree as gorgeous even without the scent. (I buy real wreaths to hang high enough so the cats cannot get to them just so I can get the scent.) I look at my LVP flooring as incredibly beautiful because I got a color I like and any accidents including hairballs are easy to wipe up and I never have to worry about it. (Ditto if the washer ever fails.) If you compare one to the other you may find yourself adding regret and judgmental attitudes to your perspective. But if you acknowledge their differences and choose one, based upon the advantages you prefer, then I think you might find you will have few if any regrets. You won't mourn what you can't have (both easy care and real hardwood) but instead you will embrace and celebrate what you did choose because it makes you happy. And that is all that matters.

We're cutting it close and everyone from the designer to my husband to my neighbor is asking me if I picked the floor yet! I'm worried that the floor I think I like could sell out. I'm wondering if I should buy a box of it or just buy it. It's hard for me to pick a floor with two little samples that I have at the store from two different stores when I I have already had problems with them selling out. Yesterday the fabricator for the countertop said that my sink was severely damaged and I went to buy a new one in that sink will not be available till end of many so I'll have to take choice2. would hate to go through best I can with a floor. One thing I will say I did not hesitate with was the courts and it did end up selling out pretty quickly after! Floor is such a big investment that goes throughout the whole house so it makes me more nervous.
