Ranges and Sinks on same run...thoughts?
Comments (13)Let's see here: Per comments from an earlier post, I'm in 100% agreement in moving the dishwasher to the right side of the sink. rhome410: There's 42" between fridge and island. 1-2 kitchen workers. One 3yo kiddo, no more planned. Not a full cabinet on the 3rd seat. Clearance at the pantry opening is 36". This is narrower, but I figured that the opening of the doorway will visually 'buy' more space, and 36" is wide enough to walk through. The island is 7' at the long side, 4' at the fridge side and 2-6 at the right side. Any thoughts on what to do with the island to gain a 4th seat? Or how that might work with the pantry hall wall? Earlier, someone commented on the hall being a waste of space, but I truly want a pantry I can shut off rather than look at the goods everytime I pass through it. And, I didn't love the idea of coming through the dining area from the pantry to get the kitchen. Arrrg! Help! To answer someone's earlier question, the sliding doors to the deck are a set of (4)2-6 panels, biparting in the center. The 3 windows at the bottom are fixed, but are identical floor to ceiling and match the sliding doors....See MoreWater marks on my honed absolute black granite countertop
Comments (29)I know this has been asked and answered But I still need some help. After an extensive search for a slate counter top I settled for honed black granite. The owner of the quarry guaranteed me he would seal it before delivery and it would not leave any discolorations. That did not happen, the installers just wiped it down with a sealer and when epoxy was used for the sink glue residue & finger prints set in as well as every splash of water after the faucet was connected. I called the dealer?quarry the next day and he said he would take care of it. 1 week later everything was leaving stains even if I wiped it immediately, splatter from the stove just spread with each wipe. I called again and told him he needed to send someone over to remove the stains and reseal it properly. His response was well it's stone it's going to do that?????? but he would sell me a sealing kit!!!!I responded what good is that if it's stained. he said use bleach, didn't work either. Help! this guy lied to me and now I'm stuck with a top that is getting worse by the day, is there something wrong with this stone? What can I use to remove the glue stains & food splatter, water marked do come up if I repeated scrub them but that's all day every day???????...See MoreWater mark on wall in cabinet under sink - but no leak. Comments (3)In my mind the water is probably coming down from the window, collecting at the bottom plate and wicking back up on the inside wall....See MoreWater Pooling into Lawn (Water Run-Off From Driveway)
Comments (6)If this is as small an area as it looks, a smallish dry well might resolve it. Dig out a hole (three feet wide and deep, perhaps?), put landscape fabric in the hole (a large enough piece to cover the bottoms and sides and top), fill it with rough gravel or rocks, fold the landscape fabric over, cover with dirt and your sod. You can search for dry wells to get a sense of how they work - largely some extra space between rocks and gravel to give some buffer while it drains into the soil. It's not magic, you can still get too much water. I don't know about how close one can be to your garage or driveway. Before doing that you may also want to check how any gutters from the garage and house are throwing water out, ie redirect them or further out if it's easy....See MoreZac Harris
