Let's have a cup of tea
Comments (13)The kettle is on, I'm busy wrapping gifts so they're ready to go, mail, by bus, some will be picked up and some delivered. I just have one more gift to buy and then Whewwwww I'm done. I'm looking forward to a mug of orange pekoe and a couple of Berry Green Tea Biscuits, I really liked the Blueberry and Brown Sugar biscuits hope these are as good. It'll soon be time to put the tree up and do some christmas baking, unfortunately I have to do the baking last minute or there's nothing left when christmas rolls around. Found a good recipe for a smoked salmon mousse, with a dab of hot pepper jelly and a crisp cracker, soooooo yummy. SMOKED SALMON MOUSSE 1 lb. soft cream cheese (500 gr.) 1 156g can of smoked salmon (we use St. Jean's, it's also their recipe) 1/4 tsp. lemon juice 1/8 tsp. Dijon mustard Pepper 2 tbsp. chopped green onions 2 tbsp. chopped parsley Blend all ingredients in a food processor. Put into an attractive dish and decorate with thin lemon wedges and parsley, serve with crackers. If you prefer a more subtle flavor, reduce the amount of salmon. Comments (45)Excuse me Tina, are you implying we don't celebrate the "meaning" of Christmas because we enjoy giving to each other? My DIL's father is considered a "Pillar" of the Church (Babtist) they attend, and I can assure you we do celebrate the meaning. All year long. We all look forward to the Christmas Prayer he prepares. He leaves out no family member who may be ill or in pain or not with us. We've always celebrated the meaning of Christmas. Giving gifts is part of the meaning. Three Wise Men? :) I do remember last year around Christmas it seemed that the majority of this board didn't like to exchange Christmas gifts & I found that kind of odd. That's okay though, I have no problem with it. But please don't make me feel like Christmas is only commercial to me. And f/t/r, my son's write me short letters/notes all during the year, each and every year, mostly in cards, even though they live near me. They're the most beautiful words I've ever read. I cherish them and have saved each and every letter/card. I watch my grandson every week during the school year, and about every few weeks I go into my son's office and set a note on his keyboard that always says, "Mommy loves you," or "If you were little I'd rock you." Now my son tells his 2 year old, "When you're old and gray, I'll rock you." I end all my letters and cards to them by saying, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as you're living, my baby you'll be." So we have PLENTY of love and we also love to GIVE to each other at Christmas. What's so wrong with that? And how did this thread end up about whether we should or should not give to those we love at Christmas time?...See MoreTray with Christmas teapot & cup
Comments (9)Wow! Can't believe so many of you have seen this already. You either stayed up really late or are early birds! I hadn't realized I didn't post it on the gallery where I normally post until now. Oh well, must have been a "senior" moment. This design is by Judy Diephouse, and came from the Dec. 2006 issue of Painting magazine. She had painted it as a lid for a little basket. I just adapted it for this tray. PF, this was the first time I used the fan brush I bought when you had told us the brushes were on sale so cheap. I loved using it, it was so fun. I do have a question, if you have a small area do you just not fill all the bristles with paint? It is wide, so I really had to be careful not to get strokes where I didn't want them. I've been finding several patterns for teacups/teapots as I've looked back through my saved magazines. I thought they were a recent popular phase, but obviously they've been a favorite for quite awhile. I'm also becoming fascinated with all the painted food items I'm seeing too. One blog I ran across had some cupcakes painted on metal trays and they were so cute. Will have to see if any of my trays would work for that. Karen, good to see you stopping by, I'm not posting this one on holidays since it is a Christmas thing and we're into Valentines now. Maybe next year if I still have it by then. LOL Luthien, good to see you back too. We've been wondering where you went and what you have been up to. Belle and Punk aka Speedy, I'm just trying to hold my own with you two. Both of you are such fast painters, you are keeping me motivated! Kraftymom, what have you been painting? Are you still teaching classes? I'm glad you are still coming by here, but would love to have you share more--even past projects. Today I'm hoping to work on a Valentine's sign. Let's hope I don't get sidetracked. LOL Luvs...See Morechloebud
