Central Air through old ducts or what?
Comments (2)Ok - do you have access to existing ducts? Do you have dampers on existing ducts? You don't really need a/c downstairs, right? Because then maybe a few minisplits is the answer. Dampers are cheap (as dirt) and with some seasonal readjustment, are probably your best bet. A few new ducts perhaps to even it all out. You could put a system in that is sized to just upstairs and close all the dampers to the downstairs in the summer. Or the dampers could be mostly closed. Normally this might be an issue but if you undersize the a/c, I don't see why there would be a problem....See MoreHelp me fix this bedroom?
Comments (53)Ann you room is so cool! I have a very similar wedding ring quilt from my grandma, but the background of mine is cream. It was on my bed as a kid and one day when I should have been napping, I drew on it with a pen! (I was four, not recently!) I hope I can someday find a way to restore the quilt (some of the squares have disintegrated too) and use it in a room. Edited to add that I just may use your room as MY inspiration in my current bedroom redo. I have a dresser across from the bed and an old antique rocker from grandma too. And windows in the same spot. And I have a white blanket I could use on my bed, along with another intact quilt. And white pillow shams and a white dustruffle. The only problem with my room is that it has ugly blue carpet that I am not able to get rid of right now. But it is actually the same color as that dresser, so your color scheme would actually sort of work for me. Another difference is that my woodwork is not painted, but I think I can still bring some elements in from your room to great effect! I am a total ditz when it comes to decorating so I do well to "copy" others as a base. Of course not an exact copy, but the general aesthetic....See MorePLEASE help me choose a bedroom HVAC unit or tell me what to do
Comments (17)can you please help with this. we decided the best thing to do is hook into the main HVAC for the living areas, Remove the bedroom HVAC all together. then replace the main HVAC unit with a state of the art 3 stage system (he uses american standard) Here is my question. Today in Florida it is 49 degrees! freezing for here. humidity in the house is like 20% but for some reason in my bedroom its like 60% (no ac running cuz its cold) Same floor, same type doors and windows, adjacent to living space, My room always feels damp. smells like mildew. Two mold companies have come and tested with meters to look for moisture in the floor or behind the walls and found none. I am convinced there is some sort of dampness present in this room (no carpets or drapes ) only tile, wood furniture. not much clutter, closets have been emptied into another room in prep for remediation, new roof, ducts have been cleaned, attic crawl space has been checked. HVAC unit is not dripping or clogged(that i can see, was just serviced and uv light added) the HVAC plenum is dry (although there is mold on the drywall in there) waiting for remdeation. My question is where else can i look for a moisture source? does mildew (smelling like damp towels that have sat for a while) have to mean there is a sitting water source somewhere? any other ideas. isnt it logical that if its a freezing day here i shouldnt need AC to draw humidity out of my room today?!...See MoreRerouting existing duct to heat/cool basement?
Comments (4)I will be adding an access panel so I can reach the damper that will be suppling that duct. We don't want air going up that duct into the daughters room, it has 2 ducts because the homebuilder messed up and ran the duct up the wall that was meant for the master bedroom but was to far over and ended up in the side bedroom and they just decided to leave it because home builders are idiots. I am thinknig about now adding a T to the duct and having 2 supply registers to even out the airflow a little bit...See MoreJodi P
