PLEASE help me choose a bedroom HVAC unit or tell me what to do
Comments (17)can you please help with this. we decided the best thing to do is hook into the main HVAC for the living areas, Remove the bedroom HVAC all together. then replace the main HVAC unit with a state of the art 3 stage system (he uses american standard) Here is my question. Today in Florida it is 49 degrees! freezing for here. humidity in the house is like 20% but for some reason in my bedroom its like 60% (no ac running cuz its cold) Same floor, same type doors and windows, adjacent to living space, My room always feels damp. smells like mildew. Two mold companies have come and tested with meters to look for moisture in the floor or behind the walls and found none. I am convinced there is some sort of dampness present in this room (no carpets or drapes ) only tile, wood furniture. not much clutter, closets have been emptied into another room in prep for remediation, new roof, ducts have been cleaned, attic crawl space has been checked. HVAC unit is not dripping or clogged(that i can see, was just serviced and uv light added) the HVAC plenum is dry (although there is mold on the drywall in there) waiting for remdeation. My question is where else can i look for a moisture source? does mildew (smelling like damp towels that have sat for a while) have to mean there is a sitting water source somewhere? any other ideas. isnt it logical that if its a freezing day here i shouldnt need AC to draw humidity out of my room today?!...See MorePlease help me decide which of these bedroom colors!
Comments (8)My intent was to paint before the flooring is in so I can take advantage of the furniture being out of the room (my husband will not be down for helping me move it all out of the room twice), and also it would just be nice to not have to worry about covering the flooring in order to paint. I considered painting AFTER the flooring is done, before the furniture is moved back into the room, but then I'm starting all over again with paint color options & the pressure to get it all done so our bedroom is functional again. :) I really didn't want to go with white in this room, and the current color is too yellow for my taste, so I've been trying to find a tan-ish color that keeps it neutral but doesn't go yellow. Totally open to paint suggestions & the bedding isn't something that can't be changed. For reference: PO - Pale Oak RP - Revere Pewter AG - Agreeable Gray...See MoreHow to fix my damaged bedroom wall?
Comments (3)I can't give you answers to all of your questions, but I can answer a couple. 1. That vertical crack looks like a crack in the foundation caused by settling. It happens in a lot of older homes and I don't think it is super serious, but it could settle more over time, so you might have to re-do a repair at some future point due to additional movement. 2. That looks like normal cracking in old plaster...not an indication of anything worse. 3. The black stain is not mold. It is stain damage caused by water sitting on top of the oak parquet, either from watering plants sloppily and not cleaning up, or from a leak coming through the wall from outside. There are various ways to try to clean this up (just Google), but in my experience it's not possible to make them disappear completely as it's not just on the surface, but has penetrated down into the wood a bit. I once had to deal with this and finally used a power sander to physically remove the stains, and then refinished the surface to match the surrounding area as much as possible. I probably had to remove 1/16" of oak to get to undamaged wood. 4. How did you get debris behind a baseboard in the first place? In any case, the easiest thing would be to pry it off, clean behind it, and reinstall....and maybe cauld the top edge with latex, paintable caulk. 5. If I were repairing that wall, which looks like concrete with patches of spackle or a plaster skim coat. I would sand only enough to remove anything that is loose, and then use a 12" wide joint knife to flatten the surface with joint compound....See MoreGray and Beige UGLY Collide in guest bedroom...decor ideas to fix?
Comments (11)I agree with adding curtains and pictures on the walls. Paint is one of the most inexpensive items in decor. Gray is a cool color and beige is a warm color. That's probably why your room doesn't look right. Changing the walls to a warm color may work well. Cool colors: bright white, ice cool pastels, black, gray, royal blue, purple, bright yellow, pine green, Kelly green, forest green. Warm colors: off-white, sand, beige, tan, brown, olive green, peach, orange, golden yellow. Painting your walls a warm light olive green may work well. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW9037-baby-bok-choy In my opinion, buying upholstered furniture at a second hand shop may not be the best idea - they may have bugs in them. Wood furniture is ok to buy there, because it can be cleaned. If there are bugs in upholstered furniture, you may not be able to see it and it may be impossible to get cleaned....See Moreamykath
