SodaStream machine anyone?
Comments (6)We have one and use it daily. We like it less fizzy and add our own fresh juice. I like it with grapefruit fresh squeezed, think Fresca. Much cheaper than buying canned or bottled and no more cans in the recycling. Our local store has the cartridges and they last forever. I works best if you chill the filled bottles in the fridge first. We have three in constant rotation. We put a thick small rubber band around the necks when a couple are -fizzed- so we know which one to pull out. We don't like sugared sodas so works for us. Some friends kids visiting had a blast experimenting and making their own beverages. Use honey or maple syrup and experiment. Just found a second on at a yardsale for our vacation home....See MoreAnyone Have a Soda Stream?
Comments (3)I've had mine for several months now and I love it. My recycling bin is noticeably lighter :-). I drink plain seltzer by the liter...my husband likes the Dr. Pepper taste-alike. You won't be saving money as far as the cost of the carbonator refills, but I like having it always available and ready. It's great for a party where you can offer people choices without investing in large bottles of sodas. I haven't yet made my own syrups, but there is a line of all-natural syrups put out by the makers of SodaStream. My local Bed, Bath and Beyond just started to carry those syrups, but they're rather expensive. Helene...See MoreSoda Stream
Comments (25)Kaismom, I had the exact same path as you Pelligrino > Isi seltzer bottle > Penguin. Agreed the Isi bottle was a total waste, and as soon as I saw the Penguin I knew I had to have it! If you buy their soda flavors, buy small ones at first because they may or may not be to your liking. I didn't like them and I returned them all. But now it looks like they have better flavors and ingredients, like real sugar. But I like to make my own concoctions, with sugar syrup, ginger juice concentrate (just found that one!), frozen lemonade mix, mint leaves, etc. Yum. I like hearing recipes that others are using. Bobbbeig, (I like all the Bs, was tempted to add a few more...), I considered a setup like yours. Agreed it is far cheaper. In the end, once the Penguin came on the market, it was too easy to resist. Plus, I only go through a CO2 canister about every 6 months. But it's a good way to go if you are a high volume consumer of bubbly drinks....See MoreDo you have a favorite soda?
Comments (75)I'm in the minority as well. I have been drinking soda (or "pop" as it's called in my neck of the woods) for over 60 years with no ill effects. I won't drink diet soda. I drank more when I was young but I still like it now with hamburgers, pizza, french fries, things like that. Or just because. Barqs used to have cream soda, root beer, grape, orange and a lime green flavor that were great. There aren't too many sodas I don't like but I usually get Coke or Pepsi. I know they taste different and that doesn't bother me. I try to remain open minded on that subject. :) I have gone several months without drinking pop but sooner or later something will call me back. It's one thing I like about flying is getting ginger ale. I just like it once in awhile and that is my treat when flying (which I don't care for). I try not to have it in the house and drink it only when out just to control how much I drink. But if I am having something salty, a Coke really hits the spot....See MoreLyban zone 4
