I always drink water or coffee (or tea), never soda. Not for thirst, but OK maybe the occasional glass of wine too!

Well I guess I am the pop drinker here. Have a Coke every morning with my breakfast. When I eat lunch at work I drink have Mt. Dew. If I eat lunch out I drink a Dr. Pepper.

I very very very rarely will have a little bit of a coke, I just don't really care for sodas they taste so sweet. My norm is water and out I drink unsweetened tea. I do like cranberry juice and pom so I have those around on occasion. Every morning I have one big glass of iced coffee, sugar free non dairy Creamer, with it packed full of crushed ice.

Soda is the devil for those with diabetes!

On the very rare occasion (maybe twice a year) I crave a soda, usually with pizza, Orange Fanta! Otherwise, good old plain ice water, LOVE IT!

It's interesting how this question has attracted so many people who either don't answer the question or are actually anti-soda. Why would they reply?

My favorite is a mix of diet Dr Pepper and Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi). I can taste the difference between diet Coke and diet Pepsi, but I don't care. I like the flavor of Dr Pepper, but I can't drink that much of it. Diet Coke and Pepsi don't have the Dr Pepper flavor, so I use them to water down the flavor of the DP. If diet is not an option but Squirt is available, I will drink Squirt before Coke, Pepsi, or Dr Pepper.

I drink 100 ounces of mixed soda (minus about 30 ounces of ice) every day and have for the last 40 years. When I was in my 20s my doctors kept telling me I needed more fluids in my diet. They (correctly) said it didn't matter whether it was soda (caffeinated or not), water, milk, or soup. I just needed better hydration. In addition to the 100 ounces of soda I drink another 30 or so of orange juice. This level of hydration took about 15 years to figure out after the first diagnosis of not enough hydration. Sugared soda fills me up too fast to get 130 ounces, or even 12 ounces, down.

If you want to try different soda flavors from around the world, Epcot Center at Disney World used to have a sort of igloo building that served many, many different flavors of soda.

I all most always drink unsweetened ice tea, light ice. Once in awhile I will have root beer or even ginger ale. I also drink milk and water. I love grapefruit juice and squeeze my own and have that many times for breakfast. I do not drink coffee, never ever.

I haven't had soda in 20 years. I have never liked the "diet" ones back when I did drink. Pepsi was always my favorite but it's been so long I wonder how my body would react. My contractor always had a liter of diet coke and drank several a day and yet was fat. I drink water with half a lemon , no sugar. I have no sugar bowl and use none . I only buy it for the bees who are right now drinking sugar water.

Can't remember the last time I had a soda. It's expensive and contains lots of empty calories. When my kids were little, they were only allowed to have soda once a week. Neither of them drink it now. I like water. Added advantage is I don't have to haul those heavy bottles and cans in and out of the house or find a place to store them.

Fran, when we were little we had a pitcher of Kool Aid in the refrigerator, never soda or pop. The only time we had pop, it came from a cooler, we were either camping and that was our treat, or we were on our way to my grandparents in California, once every year by car, and my mother packed a cooler for the drive. My dad often drove straight through to LA from Washington. We didn't get our own bottle, we had to share, three of us taking swigs from a glass bottle of pop in the back seat.

I like Mt. Dew, but only in the aluminum cans (yes, it tastes different). Current second is Sprite Zero with a bit of Knight Gabriello Limoncello.

I actually haven't had a soda of any kind in many many years. Other than an occassional glass of OJ or apple juice, I drink water. IMO, there is nothing as good as a tall glass of ice cold water!

I like Polar orange dry! Squirt is nice too. And soda water with a twist of lime.

I used to drink Diet Coke. Now I prefer a Coke Zero once in a while. Don't nearly as many sodas as I used to. I usually drink unsweetened ice tea or water...mostly tea. I had surgery in Sept. for a huge hiatial hernia, and Dr. said I shouldn't drink carbonated drinks for a while till insides (esphogeus, stomach, etc.) healed, mostly cause it caused bloating. So since then I've had only 2 diet Zeros and don't miss it.

I like vanilla coke and sprite. I very seldom drink pop though. I like coke floats and coke slushies. I hate ice tea, doesn't matter what kind it is. Pancreatic cancer runs in my family. One day I was watching DR. Oz and he showed what your pancreas does when you drink pop. Ever since then I have cut way back

No soda for at least 20 years. I used to like diet Pepsi. I grew up drinking Tab.

Once in a while A&W Root Beer, hate the taste of diet sodas.

I'm a Pepsi fan, but since we have significantly cut back on sugar, I don't do full-sugar Pepsi anymore. If I drink a pop, it's sugar free. Coke came out with a sugar free Cherry Coke and I'm hoarding it because it's a limited time thing up here, which peeves me off because Coke and Pepsi never come out with good flavours in the sugar free. (I'm drinking one now...). I have one maybe once a day, or every other day. I used to drink 2 liters of Pepsi every single day. So for me, this is huge.

I like ginger ale, so my daughter brought me some ginger beer from Trader Joe's. OMG. It was like drinking Vick's Vapor Rub. Even my pet hog wouldn't drink it. He is an old boar that smells like pee. I didn't think he would be so picky. He likes all other sodas.

I like Coke Zero and also Pepsi Max it recently changed names, i think it's called Pepsi Zero now. Once in a great while I'll have a Coke. Sugary sodas are good, but don't quench my thirst. I never have more than one, but I bet I could drink Coke all day long. I usually drink unsweet tea. If I need a pick me up I'll ad just a little oj or lemonade. I experimented with water with fresh fruit in it. It's good! Does anyone have a Racetrac near them? Oh my- during the summer they sell sodapalooza cups for $9.99. It comes with coupons for free items plus with the cup you can get free refills of any fountain drink or frozen drink for 3 months. Just fill & go- you don't have to get on line. Aaah- Coke Zero with crushed ice while running errands. I drank way more than I should!!

I'm not a big soda fan. I don't like coffee either. I know I'm weird lol. I do like a rootbeer float now and then. And when I'm eating popcorn I must have a Dr Pepper.

I used to drink all the time TAB and then I was drinking pepsi and then sprite and some gingerale.

I found out that the aspartame in diet is not good for you, causes all kinds of health issues and so I will not drink wit it in it or sugarless not liking the artificial stuff in it.

Also is not good for cholesterol and so I stopped for long time and didn't drink any pop at all.

I do like the odd pop to drink and I try to not have much and wish I could stop forever.

Does Red Bull count? (grin) It is a little carbonated. For some reason, an ice cold Red Bull will quench my thirst on a hot summer day better than anything else I've ever tried. It's not overly sweet and just the right amount of tart. Other than that, I very rarely, if ever, drink a soda water. When I was much younger, I did enjoy them fairly often, but when they changed sodas from bottles to cans, it completely changed the flavor, I just did not like that metallic taste it had.

My favorites were Root Beer, Crème Soda, and Orange.

Oh, I do keep a 7-Up or two in the refrigerator for when I have an upset stomach. It helps a lot!

And, I avoid any and everything made with artificial sweetener, that stuff is nasty! !

ETA: I do drink coffee, both at home and away, no tea though. And lots and LOTS of water, doctor's orders! Plus it is actually my preferred drink with meals.

I gave up soft drinks over 20 years ago. I just didn't like the way they made me feel bloated. I only drink water and coffee.

Straight up seltzer water. If there is any flavor, it is a twist of lemon or lime. Absolutely no sweeteners.

I used to drink a ton of pop. As soon as I got up in the morning, all day and evening til I went to bed. I don't drink much pop anymore, when you realize how much sugar you consume. When I do drink pop, #1 choice is diet Dr. Pepper.

ice mountain flavored waters. no calories light on the flavor. we had a diet drink tonight on the way to volleyball game and it was gross...we've really dropped diet soda with a few exceptions...

The only soft drink I like is Ginger Beer. It's pricey so I don't drink it very often, and only in the summer. I'm a big water drinker.

Put me with Janey, I'm a big soda drinker. My favorite used to be Diet Vanilla Pepsi. I so wish they still made that.

My favorite now is Diet Cherry Pepsi. At times when I've tried to cut down, when life has gotten stressful I turned back to the soda. LOL It sounds funny to say I drink a lot when I'm stressed, but I do- when the drinking is just a soda. Right now, if they were to try to draw blood? They'd probably find just Diet Cherry Pepsi running through my veins.

For years I drank Diet Pepsi all day. When I was working I nursed an insulated water bottle filled with ice and soda all day...so actually not a lot. I gave it up....sort of....2 years or so ago. I only have it now when we eat out...maybe twice a month. Now I drink water with a splash of ice tea for flavor. I make a half gallon pitcher with a few squirts of stevia and juice from half a lemon. I still enjoy Diet Pepsi but am glad I gave it up.

I recently had a bad cold and was drinking ginger ale. It felt more "healing" than ice tea or water. I'm sure it's just a nostalgia thing because growing up we always had ginger ale or Seven Up when we were sick.

I like Sierra Mist which now is called Mist Twist however I only drink it with Pizza or Tacos when we eat out. We don't buy soda at the grocery store anymore.

Does anyone remember when orange crush had little bits of orange in it? Or how about NuGrape ?

Wait, I wasn't truthful in my earlier response! I remembered a soft drink that I was introduced to back in the early 70s, when I spent a very memorable couple of years working as a waitress in a famous Kosher restaurant. (Ooh, the wonderful stories I could tell!)

Has anyone heard of Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda ? Wow, what a treat it was.....not too sweet, a little bit of a bite. The restaurant had all of Dr. Brown's kosher sodas, kept icy cold in glass bottles.

I try to limit my daily intake of carbohydrates, therefore, When I drink colas, its the diet variety. My usual choices are Mountain Dew and Pepsi. If I'm getting a beef sandwich at Arby's, I'll select Diet Dr. Pepper. Arby's is one of the few fast food places in town that offer Dr. Pepper. (Back in the 'old' days, regular Dr. Pepper was commonly available in the country store coolers. Back then, there were no diet colas.)

Coca-Cola (not diet Coke) and only in the small glass bottles. In Europe I am able to drink the Coke from a can due to the different formulation.

I didn't grow up drinking soda often, and now I don't digest them well, so they aren't on the menu often. But, I do like to have ginger ale (either Vernor's or Schweppes, depending on my mood) sometimes; sometimes I just crave a Coca-Cola (so I will get Coke Zero): and sometimes when I've been in the hot sun hiking or working in the yard all day, nothing tastes better than an icy, icy, icy root beer.

I miss root beer stands! Frostop was my favorite one as a child, but we also had Hires and A&W, and Barq's from the grocery store (my sister was a cream soda fan and only Barq's would do)

I forgot to mention, my all time favorite was Wink grapefruit soda. Only my mother and I liked it. Ralph's used to carry a decent grapefruit soda, but I haven't had any brand in years.

I'm in the minority as well. I have been drinking soda (or "pop" as it's called in my neck of the woods) for over 60 years with no ill effects. I won't drink diet soda. I drank more when I was young but I still like it now with hamburgers, pizza, french fries, things like that. Or just because. Barqs used to have cream soda, root beer, grape, orange and a lime green flavor that were great. There aren't too many sodas I don't like but I usually get Coke or Pepsi. I know they taste different and that doesn't bother me. I try to remain open minded on that subject. :) I have gone several months without drinking pop but sooner or later something will call me back. It's one thing I like about flying is getting ginger ale. I just like it once in awhile and that is my treat when flying (which I don't care for). I try not to have it in the house and drink it only when out just to control how much I drink. But if I am having something salty, a Coke really hits the spot.

I drink my Pepsi for the belch factor. Great just before I go to bed. Caffeine free. Have to. Cannot do the caffeine even in swallows just to get the belch out.

Some people pick partners based on whether the toilet paper rolls over the top or not. I picked my partner (married 21 years now - second time for both of us) because she is a Pepsi person too. However, whenever she wants to really get me wound up, she'll buy Dr. Pepper.

Does anyone else remember when Canada Dry also came in an assortment of colors (flavors, but the vivid colors is what impressed me as a child!) ?

My wife took hew "little sister" to a science fair recently, they had a display of various popular drinks, sodas Red Bull, sports drinks, with a plastic baggie showing how much sugar was actually in that beverage. I think for the 16 oz Coke, it was something crazy like 14 Tablespoons of sugar.

Anymore I will almost never drink a soda, in a restaurant I'll usually ask for water with a slice of lemon. In addition to being better for you than drinking all that sugar, I probably save a couple of hundred of dollars a year.

When I do have a soda, ginger ale is my first choice, followed by Sprite of 7-up, followed by , "Oh, nevermind"
