Too Late for Black Friday? OT
Comments (6)I have a little trouble understanding how a forum owned by NBC (Comcast and General Electric) can be so "clunky" so as to totally mess up quotation marks that are copied and pasted from a Word document, for example. Skybird, I know that you often used to do that. It makes sense, read it back, use the spell check - paste it here. It might even look okay then, maybe even 24 hours later (!) . . . all hell breaks out with your text!!! I struggled for hours to figure out how to tell you that it is, for example again, 15 degrees here this morning. That's in the past - the people that used to hang out on the "test forum" got tired of seeing me over there, I suspect. Now, I just type: 15F. And, I guess that's okay. But, whenever I make the mistake of trying to say anything about the Jalapa Jalapeno, for ex., that grew kind of okay but with wonderful fruit in my garden, and I use a online catalog description with that tilde over the "n" - all hell breaks out! I've just come across "number code" and thought I would see if GW would tolerate that. Nope. GW seems to be determined to tell us something about "A" or "a" or show you a "?". It is like some medieval monk who is stuck on the mysteries of the 1st letter or symbol in his manuscript! Ầ Steve...See MoreDid anyone hit the stores on black friday?
Comments (21)I have never experienced Black Friday although thru my Aunt who was a buyer for a big department store, i know how meaningful that day is! My kids grew up on military posts and the biggest "I want-need-want that!" years were overseas with little commercial influence. Now I am a grandparent (x5) and Oh, how different and fun this all is not being the Santa Claus! And this year I did lots of BF buying over the net....sales plus free shipping! I even have my new artificial tree up tho not decorated. Now, this artificial tree is almost a crime for me who delegated Hubby in charge of bringing in the fresh tree and to decorate it--on Christmas Eve! What a wonderful mad rush that all was! I think all my outdoor gardening has made this rather heartless transition to pretty but plastic easier and my bad-back guy just brought in a bottle of cedar spray to ease the tension of this less-mess "new". Guess we are getting delegated to the sidelines now, but still having great fun and have great memories....See MoreWhat Is Everyone Doing This Black Friday?
Comments (27)Made a big lunch of what leftovers were worth eating, had a piece of pie and a cup of coffee, sat in the chair in the library and rested/snoozed on and off for an hour. Just now filled the bird feeders and got the mail out of the box. It's sunny but with a cool breeze here. I received a catalog from The Swiss Colony. I haven't seen a catalog of theirs in years but can remember browsing through all the pages of food gift boxes of meats, cheeses, and desserts. Might be worth checking out for Christmas gifts this year if they packages would arrive in time....See MoreMy LQS Black Friday Sewing Adventure
Comments (9)Thanks Lois, This is actually a fancy woven, not a print. Let's see if these pix show the texture, it's something like a shantung silk, not one of the slippery ones. And also, it has a more subtle lustre, not the usual shiny silk. & it's also ikat if you're familiar w/ that. See pic above w/ the edges of the color blocks? That's in the weave. First time I've worked w/ silk in many years; this seems to have enough weight & body to take regular sewing shop thread on Bernina machines w/ regular needles. Back to add, all the other fabrics are cottons....See More
