Hate new paint color on accent wall advice please!
Comments (1)Post this on the Home Decorating forum. It is a pretty color, but part of the reason it looks out of place is that the color doesn't appear anywhere else in the room. A safer bet would have been to pull any of the colors from the curtain (there are probably 4 to 6 shades of gold beige and white in there) or the carpet (probably 10-12 colors). Below is a link to an article that summarizes the 60-30-10 rule. Think of how you dress yourself. If you were wearing a gold shirt and blue pants, would you add a lavender sweater? Probably not. 60-30-10 rule...See MoreWall color makes me hate couches? Or couches make me hate wall color?
Comments (17)So interesting to think about the implications of lighting - I will definitely have to play around with different bulbs! Gracie01, the art is actually a 4 piece panel (antique, Chinese, gold w multicolor cherry blossoms, birds, etc) I agree that's not showing as such on the monitor. Pillows are gold in same fabric as chair on opposite wall. Second set of pillows has a creamy background with green-ish geometric pattern - again, absolutely agree it's not appearing that way at all through these pics. I'm realizing that part of my issue is that I never really wanted yellow walls to begin with, and sort of let the painter (whom I actually think is great) influence the decision to do this Greenmount Silk. I'd actually prefer something like a BM Gray Mirage at 50% or so...as it is, the blue against the yellow still looks garish to me. I don't want to change the window treatments, unfortunately, as they were custom made for this space, and price-y. I really appreciate all of the helpful suggestions!...See MoreBrick Home w/New Roof Needs New Soffit & Fascia -- WHAT COLOR??
Comments (8)I did not provide enough information and also my photos were not detailed enough to show that the actual (brand new) WINDOWS (from Window World) are NOT the same color as the old painted wood surrounding them. We think it will be impossible--and not look particularly good--to paint the wood to "match." They are a shade of beige, but it appears to have a slight undertone of green to it. We wanted to keep the shutters to add more color, but I get your point and appreciate your feedback!...See MoreNew roof. Need color for trim, guttering, patio. New front door soon.
Comments (2)Is the new roof on already? If you are going to be replacing it and want suggestions, you should narrow down your choices to two or three and post pictures of the samples. There are too many brands for us to be making suggestions about roofing. We don't know what's available to you and what your price range is. Another thing that would help you get more comments is posting a closer up picture of the brick. Not one foot away, but 5-10 feet away in good light. What is the question exactly about the patio and where is it? Post a picture of it or where you are considering putting it....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
