Quartzite crack during installation

Group,

I'm pondering over what I should do about a crack found during the installation of a quartzite countertop in my bathroom renovation. It appears to have occurred when the hole was drilled for the faucet handle or during the installation of the faucet fixture. Demanding a complete tear out of the piece and replacement would be a lot of work and additional time in which the bathroom is not available for my tenants. The contractor says they will repair it, but not surprisingly, do not want to completely replace it.

Any suggestions? Should I demand a complete replacement if my tenants are in agreement? Should I accept the repair if it looks as if it didn't exist? The contractor says if they had noticed it they would have repaired it on the spot and I wouldn't have even known about it (+/- reassuring as I'm very surprised they didn't during assembly). Should I accept an adequate repair, but demand a credit? The cost of the stone piece was $1500.

Thank you for any advice!

Jason
