Another Baby Quilt
Comments (5)Rosa, Your baby quilt is so cute. You did a great job and it is such a treasure for the little one. I have a Brother that has all the Disney things. If I knew how I'd be glad to give them to you as I almost never use them. It is really a shame how little I use mine but I do have lots of patterns-many free from the net. I actually put a design on a small pillowcase I made this morning and I am thinking of making some burp pads for a new grandbaby of one of my DH fellow employees. I can only do 4" designs but yours look much bigger. I have a friend who does larger designs and she would gladly let me use her machine but I still like hand embroidery. Comments (5)You can find a lot of wonderful FREE patterns on Ravelry. Some baby blanket patterns are gender-specific in the design, but most are neutral -- it's the yarn color that would make a difference. You can even find patterns that will work with different weight yarns. I have bins and bins full of DK weight yarn for baby items, and bins and bins of worsted weight yarn, too. (I have a lot of bulky weight yarn, and fingering weight yarn, too, but not as much as DK and worsted.) There's a great, and easy, pattern on Ravelry for a textured blanket that will work with any weight yarn. I tried a Google search to find out what color to use for baby items for a Korean baby when the gender is not known, but couldn't find anything specific. Red, as I recall, is used for weddings in India. Be sure to post photos of what you make!!!...See MoreAnother assault on mothers and babies
Comments (39)dchall, research labs in Texas most certainly receive hundreds of millions of dollars of federal funding every year. You should contact the UT system and the larger private institutions and insist they stop applying for such grants. Fight for states rights, contact the state government and tell them to stop requesting federal funding for what's probably billions of dollars each year. We can also move NASA out of Houston, Texas can have its own space program. And tell FEMA there's no need to come when you have hurricaines, tropical storms, or flooding, state's rights allow you to deal with all these things on your own. Lyme disease is a national problem. Nestle is a Swiss company. Otherwise, I agree with everything you said....See MoreLoss of interest?
Comments (37)I'll give you an example of what happened to us. New home to us needed expert, specialized work on a metal roof. We identified a contractor who was capable of doing the work. We started calling. No response. My DH decided to make it a project. He called everyday for two weeks leaving a message. No response. After two weeks, Eureka. The Contractor called. He said that he had been out of town on a job. At some point while out of town, he stopped receiving messages on his phone. He couldn't straighten it out until he got back home. Once he got back home, he was able to access his messages. We were the first people he called. He said he admired our persistence. The point is, he was the right contractor for the job. He was a one man office. His technology failed him. He did a great job for us. Rural contractors work in areas where cell phone service and messaging can be spotty. Keep trying. Don't be shy. They've got more work than they want and not enough hours in the day. Once you get hooked up with a good contractor, all of the other doors will open....See Moreteeda
