French door vs regular door?

Hi,

We are converting our bonus room space to an office room or additional bedroom. This will make the corridor very dark since that was one only source of light. So confused about using glass french door vs regular door. But not sure if we have enough space for swinging the door open. Not planning to add room full of furnitures. It's going to be a desk and sofa bed. Please pour in your suggestions.

Do the stairs go up or down? If there is no second story, consider a Sun Tunnel skylight for the hallway.

I have stayed in a cottage with a french door to the bedroom, and I slept in our sun room with a french door when I had Covid. In both cases, the lack of privacy (even with curtains or blinds over the windows) made it not the most pleasant experience. I would never want french doors to a bedroom, even if it was a guest room. I would also want more privacy in an office, if I ever used it to work from home.

Thank you @AnnKH. The stairs go down. We don't have an option to add skylight for the hallway because of our current roof structure.

By privacy, do you mean noise from other rooms? I thought we could add a blackout curtain or mini blinds to the glass door for privacy.

I have a Counter depth Bosch 800 Integra. Side by side. I will say that the CD Bosch S by S held the same amount of food as our SuperBa Kitchen Aid. We were shocked the day we moved all our food into the new refrig. I am still amazed how the German Designers have utilized every bit of space in the CD Bosch. We do have an extra frig. It is not the old Superba but a far smaller one and only about 1/4 of the space is used. A waste of energy. We are a family of 5 with extended family visiting often. We eat veggies, drink juices and use a refrig to it's capacity in the main kitchen. Think about how you eat? Do you use your refrig for fruits, veggies, meats, frozen, drinks, milk, leftovers... This might help you to see how what would work for you. I did happen to see a freezer for $200 at Lowes. I might think about getting rid of our extra and just buying a small chest Freezer. I am leaning towards the Samsung Flex RF28K9380SR in regular stainless steel or the Whirlpool WRV986FDEM in regular stainless steel. (still considering Black Stainless, but I was told that it scratches easily and that the scratches look silver!...) The KitchenAid KRMF706EBS is very similar to the Whirlpool, but is more expensive, and has a very organized, compartmentalized interior. It comes in regular stainless or black stainless and does anyone know if KitchenAid's black stainless is more durable than Samsung or LG? I also think that the Whirlpool or KitchenAid look a little more "boxy" and industrial, compared to the Samsung 4-Door Flex refrigerator which is more streamlined and elegant because it does not have protruding handles.... I really did not like the "platinum" grey interior color of the KitchenAid I saw. Is the Architect Series of KitchenAid refrigerators grey inside? What do you think? Also, what are the other differences between a KitchenAid and Whirlpool model since they look so similar?

I am looking online at the KitchenAid 5-door Refrigerator KRMF706EBS and trying to compare it to the Whirlpool 5-door refrigerator WRV976FDEM. I was told that Whirlpool makes KitchenAid.... are they identical in all respects except for logo and the fact that the Whirlpool is much cheaper? Also, only the KitchenAid comes in that new black stainless steel finish which is supposedly fingerprint and smudge resistant and easier to clean. Is that true? Is black stainless steel better than regular stainless steel? Does anyone have experience with these models and can speak to their ease of use, reliability, durability as compared to comparable models made by Samsung or LG?

We built in 2021 and ended up with 5 multi-sliding doors from Euro-wall. We needed impact/hurricane rated doors. All of ours are 10 ft high to fit our 12 ft ceilings. Our largest is 6-panels and 18 ft wide. We also have 4-panels that are 12 ft wide and 2-panel that are 6 ft wide. Very happy with them, except one is missing weather stripping and we have been waiting forever for the window/door dealer to send their warranty crew out to make the repair.

Could add a transom over the door?

What about a double door? Most of the time it would be open, right?
