Buying the same rug for two different rooms...bedroom and living room?

I bought a rug recently for one of our bedrooms that I love so much that I thought I might buy the exact same one for the living room (larger size). Is this something that is considered a design faux pas or is it totally acceptable? (The other thing is that this particular rug that I love happens to be on sale, so the temptation is real.)

Hey There: You can go / and should go with the same window covering style in your living room...don't mix. The trick is to find the perfect blinds/shades that is functional and beautiful. You can go with inside mount installed bottom up top down shades - the large window gets 3 units so you don't cover the beautiful wood trim. Living room/dining room drapes - the same but different?

Full shutter over entire space. Louvered so you could let some light come through, when desired. Then you could put art on each side if you wished. If you wanted shelves on the kitchen side, the shutters could be designed to open into the living room, but I would see then as closed with a hook of hardware and not necessarily operational from an open and close point of view. Only the louvers would open and close.

The room beside the fireplace room looks sooooo good! Hard to believe it is the same house! OK, about the lamps. You need rectangular shades either for those lamps or we need to try a different approach. You can try that white lamp you have with the rectangular shade on one end and then try putting a floor lamp on the end where there is the corner. I see you “grouped” some photos on a small table by the white chair. And put a throw over the white chair. How does that look from the back view? Are you gaining some confidence now and seeing with some changes you can vastly improve your home and not spend a dime! Don’t you love that?

I would not do two matching rugs. & yes,either of the two rugs above would co-ordinate,especially since you have the pony wall separation. That said,I might look for something further afield although a round is always more difficult to find. What size round do you need? Do you want the two spaces,not just the rugs, to hit about the same level of formality and mood? Pics would help ;-)

I have the same rug in my office (spare bedroom) as the living room. I don’t think anyone notices.

I see no problem with this, and IF you ever want to move the rugs to different rooms (or maybe in a different house), you know they'll match. Sounds like it's a future-proof choice.
