Different Windows, Same Room - WWYD?
Here is my family living/rec room. Please excuse the family actually living in the living room. (the nerve!). And yes, I have stuff. And was too tired to stage the photo. This is real life, people.
We've gone 15 years without any window coverings here. But the TV glare is not great, and the sun beats in early in the am. (these were taken at night, obvs.) So, how to I treat these windows? I'd love some sort of black and white large scale buffalo check drapes (like the pillows) - But do I put those on the one big window, and then go with tie-ups in the same pattern behind the couch? I can't put drapes behind the couch... right?
This is mostly a kids hangout room, DH and I have our separate living room (that has drapes). Once I do something with the windows, I'll re-post an 'after', so you can see the room all neat and tidy. It's actually a really nice room, despite its appearance in these photos.
If it was just this window, it's a no brainier...drapes.
But then there's these... (just to mess with me...)
So here is the whole room.. (and yes, I tell him all the time to step back from the screen!)

Comments (4)Do it!..As long as the wall is high enough for a header,(which it obviously is) it will look fine. It's the overhead space that matters. Comments (25)Full shutter over entire space. Louvered so you could let some light come through, when desired. Then you could put art on each side if you wished. If you wanted shelves on the kitchen side, the shutters could be designed to open into the living room, but I would see then as closed with a hook of hardware and not necessarily operational from an open and close point of view. 5 years agoHey There: You can go / and should go with the same window covering style in your living room...don't mix. The trick is to find the perfect blinds/shades that is functional and beautiful. You can go with inside mount installed bottom up top down shades - the large window gets 3 units so you don't cover the beautiful wood trim. These blinds can be opened to any position to your liking and needs.
