Color cohesiveness help

Remodeling entire house. You enter the house through a really nice laundry room that I was contemplating using dark blue cabinets. My dilemma is In the master bathroom I’m wanting to use a green tile. I keep reading about design cohesiveness and am worried I shouldn’t use both. I didn’t really want blue cabinets in the kitchen either and love this bronze color.

What does your laundry have to do with your master bath? Nothing, unless it is IN that master bath.. Can blue and green be used in same house ? Absolutely.

Your buggy is ahead of the horse.

Post the remodel P.l.a.n. That is the walls, the layout, etc of what you are doing, especially if moving walls. That means what is the kitchen plan, the bath plan etc. and as they relate and are located within your living space.

You are way, way way out over your skis: )

"Design cohesiveness" is not "design rigidity" -- it's more about not having one room modern and one Victorian, and more having a similar feel in contiguous living spaces. This does NOT mean that cabinetry in different parts of the house has to match! etc. I think you'll be fine -- your choices look nice!

Leena braich 3:31 PM Update- Bedrosians will let me exchange my polished wall tiles for the honed ones that were more earth tones. At least my floors and walls will be cohesive. There are a lot of plain tiles in that batch so I can use the plain ones on the wainscoting wall. The shower is in a separate room so the room won’t look as busy. I will have mushroom color cabinets to ground the space as well. Once the cabinets and tiles are in place I can decide on the counter top.

I need a to scale floor plan and to be honest I never like a FR and a LR open to each other so I need a floor plan.IMO shelving works only if you have really nice stuff to display and fanmily photos are best usually in more private spaces like a nice disply down the hallway to the bedrooms for instance.Are there 2 FPs ? I need the floor plan since right now there is nothing sleek or contemporary that I see. A clean slate is what you need to show The LRs you have in your idea books are so far from what you have I need to see that space empty and you need to see if those posts are load bearing and what is the flooring ?You need a lot more lighting and all LEDs 4000k if you hope to get that clean , light contemporary look at all.

I would paint the walls something deeper than wine and change the curtains to the same hue/ tone (pecan?) as the massive wood frame of the wall mirror. I'm sorry you are losing the cane backs of the chairs because I think the room could use some pieces of lighter furniture. I might put octaganal cane trays on the ottoman and use it as a coffee table in front of the sofa. People will probably tell you to get a huge rug, but the floors are spectacular. I might get wild pillows for the 2 bland chairs (owl feathers?). Add a classical column in front of the mirror with a classical bust on it or huge fern. Big somewhat matching framed artwork on either side of the mirror. Maybe arc lamps or great fat floor lamps!

Thanks for responding so quickly, Kendrah. Yes-- we were told to get rid of those biscuit colored Kohler Memoir toilet/sink because the glazing is kind of gone both in the toilet and sink after 25 years. I just ordered a sample of the Annie Selke Crosshatch 12X24 tile and should have it in a few days. Will update then. I hear you on the geo pattern taking over. Just don't want too many things going on in a small space. That being said, going to mock up fake wooden panels on the bottom then put the wallpaper samples on top. More to come... Thanks again!

I’m so confused. I’m seeing all sorts of stuff about whole house color scheme and using those colors through the house. I won’t be using blue in the master bath if I use this green tile.

Your bathroom doesn't need to match your laundry room, under any rubric.

Maybe you use quiet colors throughout, or earth tones throughout, or whatever, but that doesn't mean separate spaces have to *match*. Your blue and green are both jewel tones, and I think that the bronze is (topaz?) as well...
