I like your inspiration and drawings. Could you do one more picture?

A simple floor plan that shows room dimensions, window location and sizes, door openings and any other obstructions. Is the water heater in the bathroom?

Will this allow enough space to service the pressure tank? (I know nothing about these so maybe it's not relevant.)

Are you sure your guests won't want a shower? The tub will be cute but will adults be happy with it?

The other bathroom has a walk in shower and there is also an outdoor shower. I’m a big fan of a hot bath at the end of the day.

Service on a pressure tank is rare but we’ve left enough room to wrestle it out if need be. That was the reason for the barn door covering it up. I didn’t have to leave swing room for a typical door

And thank you for your questions. They are helpful as I’m hoping I’ve thought it all through but your questions are how I’ll know or not 😉

It's a bit spa-like in design, isn't it? I'm starting to get the feeling that this bath is mostly for YOU and it can just serve guests when they happen to be there. Nothing wrong with that! :) Do get a handheld sprayer on the tub.

I can't really think of anything. Maybe a shelf over the pump for a massive stockpile of TP?

Yes to both of those ideas…and it’s mostly me in the cottage. My daughters only come 2 or 3 times a year.

I recommend that before you buy the tub you sit in it. Sometimes you have to fight to stay above water when the tub is too long.

You are so right. I test drove quite a few tubs. I actually own this tub in another home so didn’t shop around this time because I knew I loved it

You might consider having your storage beside the tank on wheels. That would make it easier to service the tank if/when needed.

Good idea Suzanne. Or maybe even a piece of freestanding furniture although the space might be too restricting. I could see an antique armoire or highboy in there...

An antique armoire! That’s a very cool idea. I was thinking of finding an antique sideboard to repurpose as a vanity

Cool old furniture is so out of fashion right now, it's probably the cheapest bathroom furniture out there!

And I bet you even have a truck to bring it home. :)

Have you had floor heating before? What are you using? Are you in a cold climate? I know someone considering it.

You probably thought of it already but just in case ... Your barn door when fully opened will go past the cabinet. You have to make sure that the support you have for the railing is higher than the door. The red line I drew is the barn door and the dotted line is how far the barn door will go once it is fully opened. The blue circle is the problematic area if the railing is not higher than the door:

I'm not entirely sold on the barn door for my new spa. What about a nice light weight 3-sided teak box to fit over the stuff in the corner? Front, one side, and top. And a leg or two so it doesn't fall over. Put a big fern on top of it. Or a stack of towels.

Karen, For floor heating it is a system sold by Schulater (sp?) and will be installed by the tile guy. I’m in a rain forest so it can be cold and damp. I’ve never had a heated floor before. Fingers crossed it is worthwhile.

Suzanne, good point. I will get my builder to check on that point of door/rail contact. He is building the barn door so can modify as required

Fori, I hear you vis a vi the spa vibe conflicting with the barn door. The main water shut off is next to the pressure tank and moving a wood box might be a two person job. It’s quite a tight space.

In favour of the barn vibe is that fact that this is a cottage on a horse farm 😉

You’ve got a dead spot in the corner between the tub and the vanity that will be hard to clean and will look awkward. I don’t think that’s the best layout for that reason.

Good point. That is the side that the floor mount tub filler will be on but I probably need something else there

Happy to report this project is almost a wrap (still looking for a rug that fits 4 x 5 and that I love)

I don’t think the heated floor was worthwhile in part because it wasn’t done properly. The tile guy didn’t use enough heating cable and so there are cold spots by the tub and in front of the vanity which feel like wet spots in bare feet 😢
