Tea Party table for the Partea Planners 'tea party'
Comments (37)purplemoon, thank you, well, since this treatment is going to last at least until Aug, I have to deal with good days (few) and not so good days, but I try to not have the bad days totally run my life...they just slow it down LOL Paintingfool, you just gave me a good belly laugh (Godiva) ha, only in my dreams, especially lately LOL I am glad that the tablesetting bug has gone to your family, there is nothing more pleasing than people actually using their "treasures" rather than making a shrine to them. To be lovinging touched and sharing a food event whether simple or elaborate is what makes the dishes special, because they were used with love. And each time the dishes are used they acquire a new patina of love every time they are used, now that is "priceless". And wow, 6 sisters, that means 6 opporutunites of beautiful tables and fun! dining delight, thank you too for your sweet words. I do hope what thoughts that come streaming out of this head (especially lately) are of some help to everyone, I defineatly do not have a claim to "engaging prose", I do the best I can, but of course if anyone has any questions I am always glad to take a poke at it. I do not consider myself an expert in any way. As I had said in the main forum under another thread, I do follow certain rules, but I do put up alot of others for grabs LOL, at this stage of my life I try to please me and others, the whole idea is to have fun, bring in color, excitement to what is a normal routine in most of our lives. My ears are burning in a good way, thankyou :) luvs, the Party Planner seems to be way behind on posting the photos, but if you go to her most recent comment about being busy...I think, you will see people that participated with comments, click on there blog sign and their blog will come up and you will see their teaparties....See Moretea party time, by judith (virtual tea party)
Comments (94)Betty, I LOVE the pink tablecloth in your tea setting. If you hadn't told us, I wouldn't have known it was plastic. It is such a pretty colour and goes so well with your beautiful dishes. What I find particularly appealing (besides sweet Hanna and the yummy food!) are the candlestick holders you used...I love candles of all sorts and those are great. Are they crystal? Thanks for keeping this post going, it's a good one! DD...See MoreBrazillian Dinner Party Recipes Wanted
Comments (8)I have a couple of recipes saved from the SA Virtual dinner. Alexa ******************************************************* Brazilian Iced Chocolate Cocacola Recipe Ingredients: 2 oz Chocolate, unsweetened 1/4 c Sugar 1 c Coffee, double-strength And hot 2 1/2 c Milk 1 1/2 c COCA-COLA, chilled Whipped cream or vanilla Ice cream Directions: 1.In the top of a double-boiler over hot water, melt the chocolate squares. Stir in the sugar. Gradually stir in hot coffee, mixing thoroughly. Add the milk and continue cooking until all particles of the chocolate are dissolved and the mixture is smooth, about 10 minutes. 2.Pour into a jar. Cover and chill. When ready to serve, stir in the chilled Coca-Cola. Serve over ice cubes in tall glasses. 3.For a beverage, top with whipped cream. For a dessert, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Makes 5 cups. Yields 5 Servings ********************************************************* Rum Soaked Sponge Cake (Bôlo Bêbado - Brazil) Cake Batter 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons plain dry bread crumbs 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 1 tablespoon unbleached all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon baking powder 6 large eggs (at room temperature) Put all ingredients into a food process or blender and process until the batter is smooth and well blended. Grease the bottom and sides of a nonstick 8- or 9-inch square cake pan. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake on the upper rack in a preheated 350 degree F oven until golden and a wooden skewer inserted in the center comes out clean, about 15 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven to a wire rack to cool for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, make the syrup. After syrup is made, run a knife around the edges of the cake to loosen it from the pan. Then turn the cake out onto a large serving platter. Pour the rum syrup over the cake and allow it to cool. Serve the sponge cake at room temperature or chilled, plain or with the garnish of your choice. Rum-Flavored Syrup 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup water 1/4 cup cachaça or white rum Put all ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, and then remove from the heat. Garnish Fresh fruit, fruit complete or confectioners' sugar (optional) If using confectioners' sugar, make sure the cake is cool or it will melt into the cake. *********************************************************...See MoreRP's Moonlight on the Marsh Party
Comments (96)OK People!!! When you feel as if you can manage to move, there's the annual Oktoberfest going on in the city today. Lots of food (if you can stand more)lots of beer (just in case you didn't get all you wanted last night and this morning) and music from an OOMPAH Band. The Big thing every year is the Weiner Dog Races. They had over 200 of the darling racings last year. It's down at the River Front Park in the Historic District. You can hang around here as long as you like, just eat up all the leftovers and drink all the booze and tidy up the place. I'm going to take a long nap. Thanks everyone for making this a blast...a literal one thanks to Dynomutt. I'm sorry I didn't mention that you should be careful about sparks and all that dry marsh grass. My husband says you can keep those pants....he doesn't want them back..ever! I took scads of pictures for those on the RP that had to stay home. Unfortunately, I left the camera on the railing and it got dumped in the water when someone got a little too excited. I really didn't think my belly dancing was THAT good!! That Pig Roast was exceptional.. I simply must get me one of those roasters for when all the grandkids come over. Then I would have an excuse for making them eat outside. That little thunderstorm that popped up was rather exciting, wasn't it? You'll have to admit that 30 mminutes of watching lightning over the marsh was not your usual party entertainment. But, it was over quickly and the moon came out just beautifully. Take care on the way home, Aggie a...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
