Can restored 100 year old fir doors be made to look less orange?

I've read about products you can spray on already finished woodwork of pine or other species that tends to go orangey with time. And I know there are various methods of finishing new wood of those species that can keep them from darkening to an orange tone. What I'm wondering about is if in refinishing/restoring the 100-plus year old fir doors in my home, I can do anything similar to minimize the orange tones? In theory, it seems to me that if you can spay on a transparent blue toner to counterbalance the orange tones of already finished pine and make it appear browner and greyer, , maybe you could add a touch of blue/grey pigment to a clear finish coat on the stripped old wood and produce a similar effect? I don't want to paint the doors and I don't want to change the color totally, i'd just like to tone done the golden, orange tones a bit. Thoughts?
