Last minute baby quilt

Well, I knew this baby was due in October - but he was supposed to arrive LATE October! Needless to say, I was not prepared when my friend called and said they were taking her daughter in for a C-section last Tuesday! So, now what??? I had other ideas, but threw this one together and got it quilted last night. I will get it to grandma to deliver since they live in Denver.

Baby Artemis hopefully will like kites!

Thanks for all the compliments! When I found that fabric, I bought all on the bolt - about 7 yards. Even though I fussy-cut the balloons, they were spaced nicely, so there was little waste. Alas, fabric manufacturers discontinue patterns every year or two. So I will be on the look-out for another feature fabric. I saw one a few weeks ago with fairies on it, in an appropriate size - but realized if I centered one fairy, several others would be decapitated, LOL, and that bothered me enough to pass on that one.

bodica, Very good advice. It is hard to remember to pause and enjoy the experience. I assume we will never do this again. This is supposed to the the "forever" house. :) Days when we make a lot of progress, we are on cloud nine. Days when we don't it hits us hard, but, we will get there and I know it will all be worth it. Analogous to having a baby... sdionnemoore, I love talking to people who are at the same point as us. I really love the SW Blonde strip and all the colors on it. Please post pictures as your paint goes up! I'd love to see them. Humble gold will be the main color in our house, but there are a lot of different colors as well. Here is a link to our blog if you are at all interested in seeing some of them. Who knew you could paint tile? (obviously several others besides me. LOL) Just back from the hardware store. Blue is going to be painted white. I'll prime the walls white, see how it looks. If I think I'll like it, I'll just paint white (Ive never had a white room) and accessorize with brighter colors. If I don't think I'll like the white, I'll prime grey over that and see what color strikes me when BM opens tomorrow. Mildred, I've got to get this room finished by tomorrow night, since I'm having company tuesday and then out of town for the rest of the week. We'll tear all the tile out in the spring, so as tempting as it is, no sense doing it twice. Thanks all for the advice...I had no idea. :/

i prefer side by side, but i fold out of the dryer and stack on top-- way easier than dumping and folding, imo!! :) i would be ok with stacked if i didn't fold out of the dryer because i'm fairly tall... tho, in the winter i also sometimes put towels on top of the washer/dryer and lay sweaters on top of them to dry... i love my pedestals- 15.5"tall- and they are stuffed! i have numerous different types of detergent, bleach, stain remover bottles, etc, etc under the washer and dryer sheets and extra towels and rags and a bunch of other stuff under the dryer... i have had cabinets above my w&d in previous homes and it doesn't work great for me because i stack clothes, etc on top and don't always immediately remove- then to get in the cabinets, i have to pull over a stepstool and remove what's on top of the w&d to get into the cabinet. open shelves definitely would be easier! if you put up shelves, i would make them 18" deep.

It took me all summer to make a 40" square baby quilt (I don't think I really wanted to make it). I can't imagine "throwing together" a baby quilt that fast. And, especially coming out with such a cute quilt. Congrats!

The oldest will be 22 in January.....10 in Indiana and 8 here in Florida. #19 is due in May of next year. :-)

Char, and they all have quilts except for the last 2 babies and I'm working on those. Sure have kept Beverly busy over the last 20 some years. lol Altogether about 50 quilts or more......lap size, doubles, and few queens and kings.

Thanks, Everyone! Quilt delivered and they like it. YEAH! Now to finish a double bed size I have been commissioned to make for a friend's granddaughter.
