Morgan! You said it, "dipped in latex". Some of the big box brands DO look like the walls were upholstered in Saran Wrap. It looks cheap and filmy to me. I don't care for it at all, but some people get ALL wrapped around the Consumer Reports and this that and the other about what's in a can of paint. WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? Is the MOST important thing to me aside from what does it feel like. Not that people go around feeling their walls (I do but I'm not normal), but I think that *hand* translates to a visual quality too. That's important to me and I KNOW it's important to other people too. I don't get to use F&B very often. I have ordered it. Not sorry I did, would do it again if the opportunity presents itself. I do have long-distance clients who exclusively use F&B so I know the palette well. I think it's a good fit for a lot of people and satisfies a broad range of expectations for what paint and color should look like. R'gurl is a good example of that. F&B easily brings a certain quality and VALUE to the table that should not be overlooked just because of the price per gallon.

I used Farrow & Ball exclusively in 2 houses and have done whole house color schemes. I love that paint and it has held up wonderfully here. Trim & kitchen cabinets I'd definitely use the Eggshell. It's a wonderful finish and I found it very durable also for our doors, trim, crown moldings and bead board in the utility room and baths. Pointing is a lovely bright white with a slight red undertone. It's the all-purpose white for ceilings and trim. A slightly softer color that's equally wonderful is White Tie but that's a pale ivory that mainly goes with neutrals. If you haven't, I'd check out the suggestions they have for using the whites which are one of their strengths. I haven't used All White. Pointing has been my go-to-white. For the baths and some kitchen walls used Modern Emulsion. It's quite durable and has a nice surface though not as velvety as Estate texture. I used it in kitchen on walls adjacent to Estate Emulsion and it was fine. There's nothing like the look of Estate finish but it burnishes and I found it easier to touch up than try to clean. Haven't used floor paint but I don't like shiny except on front doors. If the cabinets are well prepared and you were to go for the F&B primer for kids cabinets Eggshell should be fine. And it will look great. What wall colors are you planning? Have you seen the amazing color shifts?

This may have been posted already, but I just saw it. Being far from a color expert, I like reading advice (in layman's terms.) I know that the more we read, the more conflicting info we may get, but this page on Farrow and Ball's website might offer someone an idea or two about how the direction a room faces can affect color choice: F&B How Light Affects Colour

I googled Hague Blue-magnificent color! I think it calls for a cooler gray. I also wouldn't shy away from grayish white Now, if I look at their options on their site-assuming they are at least somewhat close to reality(which isn't always the case)-I see several colors that maybe are worth sampling. Drop Cloth. Conforth White. Pavilion Gray. Hardwick White. Skimming Stone. Ammonite. Shadow White. Maybe try these first. By the way-crazy idea-but very light pink, very cool, without any yellow in it- might turn out interesting. Something like Calamine? Or-very very light blue? Like Dimpse. Disclaimer: I didn't try any of these. My inclination is usually for warm colors..even their Elephant's Breath and Dove Tale were too cold for me.. Anyway. it's trial and error.. You'll find your perfect shade.
