Time to add siding (stone, wood, plaster) and paint. Ideas welcome!
Comments (9)Make the garage door the same color as the brick. It is the wall, not a focal point. If you put up cedar, please stain it either redwood(which does fade)or maybe a walnut or pecan stain. If you do that, than you can paint your front door or you can stain it to match the siding, and add some really nice hardware and a brass or stainless steel kickplate and update your exterior porch light and garage sconces to a style you like that is complimentary. If you paint the front door, than use a slightly lighter shade on the eaves probably so you don't give your home heavy eyebrows? Think slightly lighter tones since your brick is so pretty. The cedar idea is very pretty. Just wonder if making the eaves or overhang dark is the best option or if you would tire of it quicker. ?? Either way, you are way ahead not removing the brick if it is in good shape and just changing the siding and paint trims. Really nice home!!...See MoreExterior suggestions needed
Comments (8)I agree with painting the garage doors a color to blend with the brick, or the mortor color of the brick. I would also paint the white in the gable to match the garage doors. I dont mind your shutters. I think they do add a bit of interest. I know many recommend painting the downspouts, but, I would never do that. Why take something maintenance free and add to your maintenance. If they do bother you, then see if you can just install new downspouts, since you can get them in color. A nice bright color on the door would look nice, and lots and lots of landscaping. You might want a nursery to come take a look, and make you a design plan for landscaping that you can do little by little. Your yard could certainly use some smaller type trees too. It looks like there is absolutely nothing....See MoreFront door color
Comments (8)My own bias: I am very anti-brown for houses, unless it’s a cottage in the French or English countryside. I like a claret or burgundy for the front door. This brick looks brownish to me and the color looks quite lovely. What do you think? That new picture of the brick shows it to be a pinkish brown? Am I seeing that correctly? Monitors can be so deceiving, finding potential front door paint samples and painting them on large boards to set against your brick would help tremendously. Just a thought: When I was testing out color ideas for my front door I bought those colored 12x12” pieces of paper for scrapbooking at Michaels and set them against the siding to get an idea of what colors would work. I also bought those little bottles of craft paints and used them to help me narrow down the colors further. As for lights, do you need three? I tend toward the more modern looking ones, but I don’t think this is too modern: There are SO many light choices, look online for the widest selection: Your lights should be 1/4 to 1/3 the length of your door. Yes, that large....See MoreNeed color ideas for front door, porch, steps, shutters;landscape idea
Comments (9)I pulled up this photo. The brick is a little darker but similar to yours, I thought. I like the idea of a green for your shutters and I wondered about painting both door and trim a dark color, maybe a dark purplish almost black. I think the column could be pulled from your chart, a warmer tone than your current white - maybe Swiss Coffee. Think about whether you'd like that same color for your railing and maybe a dark brown from your brick for the treads and risers. Here's a screenshot of some greens that might work. This link will let you identify all the colors shown, if you want. I love your brick. https://benjaminmoorefrance.com/en/colors/1560...See MoreTherese
