Toilet: ADA, Skirted, Elongated, Dual-Flush, 1-Piece
Comments (1)From my research a few months ago, you are correct. That is the only one that meets the criteria. I ended upnot going with it because of price. Here in Canada it runs about $600 or so. I ended up getting a Kohler Persuade. It's elongated, skirted, dual flush. It's not 1 piece but it does have the sanitary dam between the tank and bowl. And as for ADA, it's 1/4" short of meeting the ADA requirements so I figured that was good enough. Cost just over $300 if I remember correctly. So far I haven't had any performance issues. I also considered the Aquia III which was around $650....See MoreSkirted toilets - more prone to clogs?
Comments (4)Well, the working man plumbing store doesn't carry Toto, so of course they will steer you away. We bought the Toto Soiree about 2 years ago, the 1.6 model. We haven't had a single clog since it was installed, and that is totally amazing. I cannot see how a skirted model could possibly be "more prone to clogs," as the skirting is simply decorative and the innards are just like any other toilet - but better in Totos. We're now adding on to the house and will buy the Eco Soiree (1.28) for the master and the Eco Drake (non-skirted 1.28) for the guest bath. Do be aware that the Soiree is ADA height, which actually might be a good thing for your boys. The double cyclone flush and sanagloss are really good on the Soiree. If you want a forum just about toilets (strong bias toward Toto) try the Terry Love forum. And good luck finding a good price on the Soiree, we bought a floor model which saved us a lot....See MoreAS skirted toilet at Lowes-- can I order from a plumbers supply?

Comments (2)Make sure the water level in the tank is at least 1" below the overflow tube. Make sure the fill tube (from the fill valve) is directing water into the overflow tube. Checking the flapper is easy... a few drops of food coloring in the tank and wait to see if the color gets to the toilet bowl. If it does then the flapper is leaking. Clean the flapper valve seat. Use the scrubbie side of a kitchen sponge and wipe the seat area (where the flapper sits) in a circular motion. The old style toilets seem to be happy with the Fluidmaster 400 fill valves and the red flapper valves. The new ECO friendly toilets can be picky about fill valves and flappers and only seem to likeOEM replacement parts....See MoreJulie K
