Any other 33' wide undermount sinks out there?
Comments (10)Keep in mind that the reach of your faucet is at least. if not more, important than the depth of your sink bowl. If you have a grid, that will lift everything about an inch or a bit more. Further, you do your work under the stream of water -- most things with you holding them, not on the bottom of the sink. You tend to let things sit there and soak, but the actual work time to then clean them is generally pretty limited. Rinse lightly or scrap and let your DW do what work it can for you. If you're having a really bad day and need something higher, you can put a pan underneath something you have to scrub, but you can never drop them lower. My next door neightbor said their biggest mistake was not getting a deeper sink....See MoreSingle basin undermount kitchen sink
Comments (12)SouthernStitcher....your mom sounds a lot like mine! All the kids wanted to come to our house b/c it was the "fun" house and my mom was always feeding everyone! I have fond memories of the various KoolAid flavors...we each got to choose the "flavor of the day" on a rotating basis...even some of our friends got to pick! My mom also has a SS sink...not quite 50 years old (maybe 30 years...)...but she was just commenting yesterday that when she remodels her kitchen she thinks she'll keep the sink b/c it's in such great shape. I don't know what "brand" it is, but I'm not sure it matters much if you get a sink from a reputable manufacturer. ++++++++++++++ If you do a search, you'll find a lot of threads about sinks...depth, grids, single vs double, SS vs fireclay vs cast iron vs granite composite, etc. Here are some things... If you will be under mounting your sink, the depth will be the depth of the sink + the thickness of your countertop. So, my sink is 9" deep with 3cm (~1-1/4") granite. That means that my sink is approx 10-1/4" deep. The taller you are, the harder a deep sink is on your back b/c you have to lean over farther to get to the bottom of the sink. The larger the ledge in front of the sink, the more you have to lean in to get to the sink. Sink grids will raise the bottom of the sink up an inch or so. They also keep things off the bottom so that it's easier to rinse the sink (items aren't sitting on the bottom blocking access to the drain), they're flat so things don't tilt, you can drain dishes on them w/o re-immersing them in dirty/soapy water, they protect the bottom from scratches, etc. You'll find this information and a lot more if you do a search. Search one of two ways: (1) Directly in GardenWeb. Use the search button on the bottom of the thread list page, not the the top of the page. (2) Using Google or other search engine. If you do it this way, be sure to specify "site=ths.gardenweb.com" as part of the search (at least for Google)....See MoreHelp finding castiron undermount sink for 33" base
Comments (7)Still, I only have a 27 inch sink base and the Kohler web site contains a typo that I asked them to correct. They said my sink needed a 36 inch base, it is only 25 by 22. As it seems with everything in this project, I still received wrong info in an email from them so I called. After a long while on the phone, a tech confirmed the sink should fit in the 27 base, should, no guarantee. We did have to carve the cab, a big no no, but this is one of those things everyone does so I am told. A large sink and a DW was important to me and I have a small space. Why don't you call Kohler before you cancel anything. I really wanted a white sink and still feel it was a gamble but it did fit after Dh carved the cabinet. I did get words from the granite fab about how large the sink was but they are working around it. Something to keep in mind is how heavy a cast iron sink is. Mine is still supported by the cab. There is also some good info on this forum about getting the bigget sink into the cab that you can. Good luck!...See Morewhat is the largest sink (width) i can undermount
Comments (21)Shezzy: Thank you SO MUCH for pointing out the difference bet the Ladylux Plus and Cafe. I had totally missed that one was a pull down and the other a pull out. I guess the Cafe is the one! What did you use for a prep sink faucet? Would you recommend using the same one? Thanks again! Kailuamom: is your sink SS? Shipping may be a bit easier on SS than the Silgranit sinks. But thanks for the tip on shipping to Hawaii. My architect continues to tell me that general contractors don't like it when you order stuff yourself and really discourage you from doing it. The excuse is that supposing something arrives damaged then it's your problem not his. But they charge at least 5% over the price (which is probably way more than what I could get online) that it's really silly not to get some of this stuff yourself. Thanks again!...See Moremaggie200
