Any other 33' wide undermount sinks out there?

I want to change my double drop in sink for a single bowl undermount sink. I found a Julien sink that the Corian fabricator said will work in my existing sink cutout and he will only have to add a piece of corian to the back of the sink area(he won't have to add any corian pieces to the sides of the sink). However, the Julien sink that I found(model 3015) is 10 inches deep and I am worried that this is too deep as I am 5'7 and have a back problem. I would prefer an 8 or 9 inch deep sink. Does anyone know of a 33' wide single bowl undermount sink in another brand that is not as deep as the 10 inch Julien? Julien does not have one that width in a shorter depth.

I know Julien can do that in an 8". It's just more expensive (naturally!).

We have the 30" wide 12" deep sink and don't find the depth to be a problem (we use the matching sink grid; don't know if that would make a difference for you or not).

I know Julien does custom work, would they make the sink you want in a shallower depth? It might be worth inquiring about it if you can't find what you want ready-made.

babyboomer1001: 100% silicone is perfect caulk between a sink flange and the bottom of stone. Polyseamseal and other Latex caulks are not; they do not have the adhesive stickiness or flexibility of silicone. It's best if you can pull your sink, clean the sink flange and stone bottom, recaulk with silicone and reinstall the sink. If this isn't reasonably possible, use a stiff plastic shim or plastic laminate to gouge the caulk out, clean the gap with acetone, and recaulk with silicone. Ignoring a leaking sink flange can have catastrophic consequences if your top has been "rodded" or reinforced with steel. If the fabricator used the wrong rod and/or the wrong bedding the rod can rust and blow up your top. I've fixed about 8 of these so far and it runs around $1,000.00-$1,600.00.

Still, I only have a 27 inch sink base and the Kohler web site contains a typo that I asked them to correct. They said my sink needed a 36 inch base, it is only 25 by 22. As it seems with everything in this project, I still received wrong info in an email from them so I called. After a long while on the phone, a tech confirmed the sink should fit in the 27 base, should, no guarantee. We did have to carve the cab, a big no no, but this is one of those things everyone does so I am told. A large sink and a DW was important to me and I have a small space. Why don't you call Kohler before you cancel anything. I really wanted a white sink and still feel it was a gamble but it did fit after Dh carved the cabinet. I did get words from the granite fab about how large the sink was but they are working around it. Something to keep in mind is how heavy a cast iron sink is. Mine is still supported by the cab. There is also some good info on this forum about getting the bigget sink into the cab that you can. Good luck!

@Barnes, I did what you suggested and think I located one! I’m holding my breath until it’s delivered to my door. A couple places said they had one but ended up being inventory error. If this doesn’t work out one place located a couple in California I can have shipped, but at a higher price. Thanks for the idea! And keep your fingers crossed for me :)

It's been 14 years since I bought my 16 guage single bowl ss undermount sink. It has been excellent and I like the slightly rounded corners and the drain hole is centered in the middle of the sink. I am going to buy another sink for a new build home in this coming year. Was hoping to get the exact brand and model, but I think the company that made my current sink may have been bought out. In addition, the online company I bought it from might no longer be in existence. The sink was made by Linea Aqua and it's model name was Vienna purchased through HomeCenter dot com. Now, I will be searching for something very similar. So far, I have found two sinks on Amazon that are worth looking in to. One is made by Ruvati and the other is Kraus. Ruvati Kraus

I'm 5'5", have a REALLY bad back and my new sink is 33" wide and 10" deep (more like 11" with the undermount). I use my dishwasher for most stuff so I don't have to stand there washing a LOT of dishes and it's not been a problem.

That makes me feel better if you have a 10' deep sink and it doesn't bother your bad back. My DH just did a search on kitchen sink depth ergonomics and it was interesting because one of the articles that came up said that people that are 5'6- 5'11 that the ideal sink depth is 10 inches. Also, I was wondering if it is possible would you be able to post a picture of your sink? a 33 inch wide 10 inch deep sink seems like a very large sink to me since the sink that I have now is only 7 1/2 inches deep. I am having a hard time visualizing it......a picture would sure help if it would not be too much trouble.......

kaye, just wanted to point out that I also went from a nice bouncy hardwood floor to a hard, cold slate tile floor, too. Knock on wood (pun intended), haven't had too much trouble with the back since my 8 weeks of physical therapy last summer. I have two ruptured discs in my lumbar area and severe arthritis over my entire spine. I don't know what type of back trouble you have, but exercises done regularly have been a huge help in keeping mine in shape.

Keep in mind that the reach of your faucet is at least. if not more, important than the depth of your sink bowl. If you have a grid, that will lift everything about an inch or a bit more. Further, you do your work under the stream of water -- most things with you holding them, not on the bottom of the sink. You tend to let things sit there and soak, but the actual work time to then clean them is generally pretty limited.

Rinse lightly or scrap and let your DW do what work it can for you. If you're having a really bad day and need something higher, you can put a pan underneath something you have to scrub, but you can never drop them lower. My next door neightbor said their biggest mistake was not getting a deeper sink.

eant to also say that I have a KXC Matterhorn and love it. It is similar in size to the Blanco, but the length or width was slightly different, nad DH liked the 16 gauge. That one may have been discontinued, but they still have it in stock at irawoodinc.com. Keep looking -- you might find one that fits the hole better.

I wouldn't worry about the depth -- I'm taller than you and have to reach further -- I haven't had a problem. But I don't think I'd want an 11 or 12" depth -- I did see a few of those. We didn't consider them -- largely because they then take up too much of the cabinet space below.
