Looking for Zero Radius Undermount Sinks ( 10' deep
Comments (9)We too have a zero radius Julien 10" deep and I'm 5 foot on the nose. It is fine for me and my husband who stands at 5'8". We too got the grid and love that too. I have no problem reaching down into the sink and moving around inside it; in fact, I prefer it rather than on the counter as it saves my triceps at times & keeps messes on the counter to a minimum. The angle just feels better. (I'm sure it does not help that I am completely out of shape!) Initially, I really thought ten inches was overkill, but now that it is in my kitchen and functions so much better than any I could have imagined, I would not do without it now. One of my favorite choices to date. And the quality of the material is second to none; well worth the price and wait time. And thanks to GW for turning me on to this awesome hunk of metal -...See MoreSS Undermount Sink/Farmhouse Feel
Comments (11)Can you explain what you meant by "Because of the width and length of the kitchen, I have opted to do an undermount sink instead of a farmhouse"? Does that mean that you think an apron front sink's size is an issue? You can get an apron front sink with a more farmhouse/traditional feel in several widths if your comment meant that size was a concern. I am thinking specifically of the Kohler Whitehaven sink which is enameled cast iron, and comes in 30", 33", and 36" widths. Furthermore, the Whitehaven apron front sink comes in both the traditional/typical apron sink height, as well as a shallower apron height for a less massive look. The corner drain also is great. I've had stainless steel sinks in past homes, and didn't like the scratches, water spots, and that it never again looked sparkly after about the first week or two. Comments (8)Like catmom I have a Julien sink. Mine is the classic 30 x 16" and while it's nice and deep I'm not loving it as much as she loves hers. I got a disposal so the basket -- often priced separately -- wasn't a benefit. Must confess I had to fit this sink into old cabinets so I was very restricted to a 16" front-to-back. Also, I had to have something that was in stock -- we didn't have time to wait. Otherwise, I can't see that mine is all that much nicer than my sister's Franke quality wise. Those are good sinks and, as catmom said, so are Blanco and Ticor -- a big favorite on this forum, and way less expensive. The critical prices differences seem to be in the gauge 16 vs 18 (16 is heavier). After that, it seems to be a question of features and shopping. I don't regret my purchase; it's fine, it's handmade and it's installed -- LOL. I wouldn't go with Julien again though unless I had a very specific reason....See MoreRecommendations for flat front, undermount SS apron sink
Comments (6)I disagree with Mama Rachel. Our stainless apron front has been in use for over a year and it still looks great. I cook every single day, almost exclusively from scratch so ours is a heavily used kitchen. Ours is curved, not flat front, but the finish is brushed so maybe that helps hide any incidental small scratches. Maybe it helps that I rarely wear a belt and I very rarely tuck anything into my pants so maybe the zipper is covered most of the time. It hasn't been an issue for us at all. ETA...we have the 36" single bowl Vigo and I just love, love, love our sink!!...See Moreskidoodle
