Why is all the furniture pushed to one side of the room? The sofa looks strange pushed up against the wall, specially when it looks like you have room to move it further out. You need to sort out the furniture layout before you can place any art on the walls.

Art is very subjective. One person's "too much" is another person's "not enough".

My style is eclectic as well. Bring together your gallery wall with similar colors or styles. Using blue and orange is fine, but I would not go with any more colors than that. White and black are not really considered colors in color theory, so you don't need to consider them in your color choice.

First of all, a gallery wall does not live by itself. It must relate to the room as a whole and to what is on the other walls, how it will be viewed in relation to the seating, how it relates to other focal points such as your painted accent wall, for balance and proportion within the entire space.

It is impossible to tell what will work without more photos of the entire room and the other walls. I agree the furniture layout needs some tweaking. It feels awkward because the pieces are not drawn into a conversation area.

Why are you swapping out the orange chair? It feels wonderful in that room as a pop of color against the blue. Why are you swapping the rug? A large coffee table or etagere or console will help ground the room and then place those 3 small accent pieces where they make sense. Then work on your gallery on the wall that will make the most of it.

Long way for a voice to travel from that orange char to the sofa. Why not move it into the conversation space the add a nice cosole on the wall where the chair is and a lamp and at least one piece of art. I do not love gallery walls not of family photos or a mixed bag of others but I need to see what you are wanting on thta wall in both style and size . Gallery walls are tricky and are in no way related to galleries at all. I think a bunch of art all hung together in a mixed wall decor is an insult to the art . A gallery hangs related pieces from one artist maybe like that not a much of diifferent artists all mixed up. .

Before deciding on a gallery wall I would want to figure out the purpose of the area and the right furniture layout.

You have a lot of pieces of furniture that seem like they would work together, but it isn't a conversation area or a TV viewing area. There is a table in the corner with no seating or purpose, but no coffee table or end tables near the sofa to set a drink. The area rug is small and none of the furniture is anchored on the area carpet.

Once you have the purpose defined and the furniture arranged it will be much easier to find appropriate art and to figure out how to make all the pieces work together by adding art and décor.

The orange chair is beautiful with the blue sofa, but it is sitting there all by itself with no relationship to anything else in the room. The area rug or art that includes that orange, along with an orange pillow or throw on the sofa and an orange vase or candy dish would anchor the orange in the room.

Can you tell us how you use this room and provide pictures of the room from a few more angles - what is behind the sofa, what is beside the stairs?

Regarding mixing it up, it’s done all the time, but is not easy. Multiple sizes, colors, frames and subjects are difficult. Be sure you have the patience. An Amsterdam coffe shop feel below.

It’s important to first address that area though, as others have suggested. The pieces feel lost/random and should be coordinated with couch to create a more functional, grounded seating area. On the far wall, suggest a console type piece with either a collage or large art.

It looks like you already have some colorful furniture. We agree with getting the layout done correctly first and then you can look at adding the artwork. As long as you make sure the pieces you get will compliment or work with the colors you already have, then you shouldn't have too many issues. If you are wanting to do a gallery wall, it is recommended to place tape in the places you want to put the pieces first to get the wall to look right. Then you can hang them once you have that aspect down.
