It is only the two of you, can't be that much laundry. When there were 5 of us and the washer and dryer were both $1 each. I spent the money to dry towels and jeans but everything else air dried. Laundry day was any curtain rod available, the back of a kitchen chair holds three shirt, shower rods hold a lot and life goes on. I did it for so long quarters were gold in my eyes. I have had a washer and dryer for 2 years now. I still catch myself giving a clerk two dimes and a nickle instead of a quarter. I have finally stopped the "wash load is done I need to bring hangers/find quarters" thing. LOL The living room curtain rod is a great place. It might not be what you want in your first place but it is what you have and it only takes a few hours.

Inflatable hangers are great, anything hung on them dries very quickly. I always take 2-3 on trips for in-room laundry. I use the never-iron method for all clothing: put in dryer for 2-3 minutes, take items out one at a time (turn dryer back on as you hang each item so all keep tumbling), hang on hangers to finish drying. Never get "bumps" and never, ever have to iron. That Sheila Maid is fantastic, thanks for the tip.

claire de luna: How darling! DH can make that himself. You know I think I got the 20 sq. ft. extra for my laundry room, but you can never have too much space. And with 9' ceilings, there's no point wasting that ceiling. Now I'm thinking about that same thing in my walk-in clothes closet, too. I did find something I think I'll use for my main all-in-one clothes rack. It must be a design that's been around awhile. Anyone who's interested, see the link below.
