Comments (4)Dang ~ I spelled your name wrong in the title, but got it right in the post. Shame on me. Glad you know who you are, sometimes I'm not sure I do. :-) Know who I am that is. Really, they don't know what they are missing by not at least making it for themselves once. It is time consuming but well worth it. I keep ours stored in the fridge also. It does keep a long, long time. FlowerLady...See MoreReducing sugar in cowboy candy
Comments (6)Sure, it's 100% vinegar brine so you can reduce the sugar as much as you want. Of course, at some point you're just going to end up with pickled peppers, so if you don't want sweet at all, why don't you just start with a pickled pepper recipe? You can even do just *some* sugar and end up with sort of a bread and butter pickled pepper. Here's just one - NCHFP has many vegetable pickle recipes, you can always sub hot peppers for sweet (in same amount/weight, obviously not count) if a bell pepper recipe looks interesting. The Joy of Pickling has a lot of pepper recipes too. Here is a link that might be useful: Pickled peppers...See MoreHHW "Cowboy Candy"
Comments (1)I had to look up Cowboy Candy, and yep, it was what I kinda figured, candied jalapenos. I make them all the time, never tried with HHW before though. Be careful with the recipe you choose. I used one that said to add the jalapenos to the syrup and boil for a few more minutes. I did NOT like the texture of the jalapenos after doing that, although they didn't float in the jars. I started just pouring the syrup over the sliced jalapenos in the jars (like I do pickled), I like the texture of the jalapenos much better doing it that way. Give us a review of how HHW's do. Comments (13)Jeanne, Yep, I had to create a b-day table for my Mom's b-day. MM, I didnt set it until I found the boot glasses. Sometimes I wait to set a table until I find the right accessories. Marlene, I debated about buying them as I am not a real western type, but they were so cute and 50% off at ARC, so I caved! LOL Punk, several of us here have identical items. I think it was Karen who said that makes us kindred spirits! Karen, what horses?? There weren't any horses on the dishes, LOL. Actually, I don't have any horses of any type. Nana, you reminded me that I did buy some little bales of hay at a TS. HMMM, wonder where I put them? Luvs, like I already said, I often wait to set the table until I have accents to go with it, or vice versa. I find the accents and then have to find the dishes, LOL Jeanne, I don't remember that, but then I forget a lot these days. F2BH, thanks. Glad to have you join us. Thanks, everybody.
