new books and eye candy
Comments (8)I do own "The Well-Designed Mixed Garden". It is a pretty good book. Traci's style is not exactly mine, but there is a lot of good information. It would be very helpful if the tables in the back were available in electronic format. My biggest complaint about that book is the size. I do 90% of my reading in bed and it is just too big and heavy for that. I see that the local library has "Timeless Landscape Design" on order. I submitted a hold request so hopefully they will notify me when it comes in. I know that a major reason that Gordon Hayward's books have connected with me is because I really like his style. There is something about reading about design concepts and seeing concrete examples that I would love to have in my own garden. "The Welcoming Garden" seemed to be mostly other people's designs with Gordon throwing in commentary. I also could not quite figure out all the plan diagrams that seemed to be randomly scatter through out the book. Do they match any of the pictures? I did not think that it was nearly as good as "Taunton's Front Yard Idea Book" (another book that I need to borrow or purchase). - Brent...See MoreBathroom eye candy - Please post yours!
Comments (60)This is the master bath in the home we just had built. I still want to add a few accessories, but I love the colors. The house is kind of "Texasy" with soft desert browns, sage green, and a few muted orange and reds for accents. A majority of the furniture is rustic and I have some Texas stars scattered around. I thought about putting a big picture of an old time cowboy in an old fashioned tub on the windowless wall over the bath tub, but I don't want to get too kitschy. Opinions? Toilet area (and dog. Comments (56)I wanted a mud room in the worst way but had no space for one. Since we always use the garage entry I came up with the idea to convert the closet by that entry into a mud room. We removed the bifold doors & built in the entry with molding. I found those baskets and hung one on each side. Then we hung crown molding & used the board that supported the self as railing for the cost hooks. There's a boot tray on hidden on a black rug under the bench. So when you look down the hall, this just looks like a room not a closet. We don't miss the closet at all and use this space all the time now. Molding detail:...See More
