FlyLeft - thanks! Yes - you are correct - 36" is the ADA standard for door openings. However, because this bathroom was built for our personal use, we bent some of the ADA standards to suit our needs. We decided on the 30" opening because of the size of the bathroom as a whole - any wider opening would have greatly reduced the size of the wall enclosure. My husband simply rolls his chair slightly into the opening & then backs up as necessary. He designed the middle of the bathroom so that he can easily turn around in a circle. Riverview111 - In hindsight, I think we would have extended the waterproofing. The hotmopping went as far as where the 2 wall openings are: You are right - the entire shower floor slopes towards the drain 1/4 inch/foot. We have had no major problems with water "run-out/off" - it is probably helped by the fact that our main shower fixture is ceiling mounted rather than extended from a wall. I think however, because of his height (6'3") there is more splash onto the main floor. I'm just making that assumption because there's virtually no splash when I'm taking a shower (I'm 5'1"). Again - my husband just asked me to emphasize that because he designed the bathroom for his needs and the space, we did bend ADA design to meet his needs - at 6'3", safety bars, placement of fixtures, sink heights, etc...were decided on for his height. It's a bit hard for me to vote for what to put in the bottom two baths because I'm not sure what else is going in there. In general, I like frameless mirrors in a very "light" feeling bath -- mostly white and/or pedestal vs vanity. I like painted wood frames in a variety of bathrooms. And of course Lyfia's mirrors are really pretty in her room, and would work nicely in your two lower bathrooms if you're skewing mostly lighter or white wood/tile/fixtures. Can you fill us in a bit more? For your top two baths a framed silver-tone mirror with a fairly substantial frame (again, much like Lyfia's) would be my second choice. As you have some visually "hefty" items in the vanity and counter colors, however, I too would like to see a dark-stained framed mirror. Now granted, I'm a bit biased as the dark-with-dark is what I did, but as I was using mostly light colors in there I didn't want the vanity to be all by its lonesome. So: Good luck finishing up. Doing one bath reno drove me wild -- I can't imagine having a brain left after *four* bathrooms!

I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero.

You are going to need to distract from the clashing neutrals by using art. Here's one suggestion of what you can do: 1) figure out what exactly are the undertones in the floor and the walls. You go to your local paint store and can get the paint chips Maria Killam provides here as examples of pink beige, yellow beige, etc. https://mariakillam.com/colourwheel/#benjamin-moore Match them to the hard elements in your bathroom so you know what you are dealing with. 2) take those paint chips to the store and find some modern art (since that is your style) that has a little bit of the wall color, a little more of the color of the floor, some white, and a lot of a beautiful color such as teal/blue/green/whatever you love. The art should be large and fill that wall between the tub and the toilet (you want about 4-5" wall space on each side. Preferably, it will have a white wood frame that will be picked up by the white toilet and the shower curtain. 3) Get a mostly clean white shower curtain (to match the toilet and picture frame) that also picks up that color you love as a stripe or accent. 4) put some other art over the toilet, also to distract. 5) get some accessories that pick up your well loved color and the wall/floor neutrals for your countertop. 6) Large floor matts in either the color you love or white. Now I have to go find some art for my own bathroom!
